  • Alignment in a 10' space

For those using a SkyTrak (or GC2) in a space which prevents you from being dead center with your screen, how do you prefer to align?

Do you prefer to be angled towards the middle of the screen, or straight ahead?

I've been playing around with both and cannot decide which works best for me.

I'm off center to the right but I am using an archery net backed by a black 84x60 rug to muffle the sound. I have a 55 inch tv back to my left. I have a problem with not following thru and holding my swing. If I do it correctly by the time I look at the screen there is no Skytrak delay. I'm in Williamsburg Va. Once I return to New Jersey I'll post some pictures.

The critical thing is that we are aligned dead square to our LM. Where the LM is aimed doesn't really matter.

In such a small space if you aim straight ahead you will probably be hitting the edge of the screen and the screen supports more often. I attach my screen with clips and have hit the clips and broken them that way. Also the impact force isn't evenly distributed on the screen so there might be more wear that way.

If you angle towards the center then you'll need good side protection because the ball will come off the screen at an angle. Especially if someone hits with a lot of slice sidespin.

Some people find being crooked in the room throws off their swing. So that is something to consider also.

Like you i don't have a strong preference so I actually move it around to distribute the wear on the screen by not hitting in the same spot all the time.

when lined up square to the target line and offset from the center I found myself near the end pulling shots back toward the middle of the screen

I have the same issue. I align it straight at the screen. I agree with wbond on the pulling issues.

If straight doesn't work for you guys because you end up pulling the ball, then what do you guys do?

Also curious what you look at when you're setting up to hit?

I've been leaning towards the slanted setup for the same reason (my mind wants to hit towards the center). I string chalk a line on my cce mat for set up assistance. It also feel safer trying to produce a draw swing this way since I'm a natural slicer. Plus, I am not using a projector yet, so I rarely look 'down fairway' for alignment and try to glance at the monitor I use infrequently and keep my concentration on the alignment chalk lines.

I line up straight with my mat... and my GC2 is aligned with my mat too.
I'm only about 2ft off centre though.
I love the new feature in TGC that allows me to offset my target line. I set it properly using a laser spirit level, so it's exactly on my line now!

Oh, tell me more! I haven't picked up TGC yet but it's on the list. How does that adjustment work?
