  • Do I need internet to use skytrak

    Hi Guys
i have optishot already and moving on to skytrak
i have my sim set up in my small uk garage which I cannot get a internet signal too
i want to use the skytrak in practice mode only through the coming winter I'm not to bothered about on line play
also the lighting is not great in the sim will this affect the machine?
ive posted a picture of the hitting area if that helps
    Any feedback would be appreciated
    cheers

I practice (without simulation) this way, without internet using a direct wireless connection between the SkyTrak and my iPad. Obviously, you'll need internet initially to install the app and to do other administrative things (i.e. update firmware), but you can do this elsewhere.

I think SkyTrak works well in a dark environment. I believe that Skytrak uses infrared and a flash to "light up" the ball, but I suspect that the darker the background, the better. Direct sunlight seems to cause unregistered shots for me when I use outdoors.

Im trying something similar in my garage shortly. I havent tried it yet but am wondering if as the garage power comes off from the house that I may be able to use those power line adapter things to get internet out there

I'm using power line adapters, I think 2 gigabit, and get connection even through two separate electric panels that are interconnected only by the main power line. You may want the higher speed adapters (eg. 2 gigabit) to get more signal strength is you are going through more than one panel.

I bought a wireless extender for about $50, put it halfway between my main wifi router and my garage, and was able to operate wirelessly out of my garage after that. 3 out of 5 bars but that's plenty for golf simulator play on the skytrak and JNPG. Whether this works for you depends on how far away your garage is.
