  • iPhone 6s Crash

    All,

    I want to get out ahead of this and give you a heads up. We have received reports and verified a crash bug with the iPhone 6s (appears isolated to this model only) on the new software update. Please bear with us as we resolve this ASAP. I'll post in this thread any and all updates.

    With the holiday coming up, in case this is not immediately fixable, please let me know if the 6s is your only means to use SkyTrak. If so, I will find a way to get you back on an older version so you are not down over the weekend.

    App is also crashing on my iPad Pro. Is this a known issue as well????

      Actually, all indications now pointing to an Apple bug with A9 driver and rendering. We just went through a skills assessment here at the office on iPad Pro with no issues, though it does use the A9x chip (vs 6s uses A9)

          You're saying it's an Apple Bug and not a bug in the newest Skytrak software? I wasn't having any issues until I updated the Skytrak app....haven't done any software updates/changes.

          My iPad Pro 9.7 is using the A9x chip as well....but I still have the same problem.

            That's correct. But it was supposed to be resolved with iOS 9.3.3, apparently it has not. We always follow protocol when making changes/optimizations. Here's a technical explanation: "The bug in the current iOS is related to accessing mips in cubemap textures, so work arounds for supporting devices before this update include not using cubemaps and using legacy cubemap assets (which allow mipmaps to be turned off). Unfortunately, even with the fix in the new iOS, it is still possible to get crashes on A9/A9x devices when using openGLES." We think we have a workaround and I will let you guys be the first to test it.

          Since installing v 2.5 i have experienced the same problem with the application crashing. It happens on both iPad Pro and IPhone SE. It appears to be an application problem. I would like to revert back to version 2.4.2 until it is fixed. Can you let me know how to do this?

                    Just FYI, I have yet to receive any PM with anyone's Apple ID and/or email address. Maybe try a visitor message? Someone said something a few days about PM's not working....I dunno.

                            Just FYI, I have sent an invitation to Hockey App to everyone who PM'd or messaged me. Also, we will be working over the weekend to troubleshoot this issue. Even though these devices are not technically on our approved list, they should work and we currently have no idea why they all of a sudden are not. Very sorry for the trouble.
