  • Will coloration on golf ball affect SkyTrak reading?

Got a new hitting target but the red and black color of the bullseye on the hitting target started rubbing off on the golf ball. I got a few very extreme >10k backspin readings off fairway wood as well as a zero backspin reading off a driver (where the ball just carried on and on and on...).

SkyTrak_Seth/Seth, just wondering will this kind of coloration on the golf ball dramatically affect SkyTrak readings? Attaching a picture of the coloration on the golf ball for your reference. Thanks.

Funny, it kind of looks like it makes the dimples stand out even more

Yeah so I thought it would help improve readings instead of hurting...

Ha, yeah it does look that way. But it actually makes it more confusing for the software to analyze the spin. It's first looking for something crisp and black to latch onto...that's like, "ahhh, there's all this black!". I imagine that soon the bullseye will quit rubbing off so much on the balls, so for now you could try some running alcohol to take that discoloration off.

I use yellow Almost Golf balls with no problem, so your yellow practice balls should be fine.
