  • Here's what's under the IR transmitting lens

Mine needs repair and it's out of warranty. Started playing around with the case and the lens on the laser side popped of rather easily (went back on similarly easy) Anybody know what all of these things are doing?

There are obviously two cameras and a IR light source in the center. I'm assuming that the stacked pairs on either side set up a curtains to start and stop the cameras. Laser line diodes?

You could make a perfect templet for a protection screen now I bet!

Those larger silver thingies look like sonar generators that make fog in my fish pond. But the doobies above them look like laser emitters with a lens to create a sheet of light for catching the ball's entry and exit. Is that an array of leds between the two cameras? Looks a lot like the patent.

yea - exactly like the patent. IR emitter source between the cameras. I think the silver things are ir laser receivers. There's a photo take with an IR light sources elsewhere on the forum that seems to see right through the silver. My guess is that it's an entry curtain only - one each fro left and right handed users. (because I've seen some DIY protectors from acrylic that only cut out the inbound side of the curtain.)

The silver things are actually injection molded parabolic collectors that collect ir light coming back off the ball - there's an IR line laser above each of them and I assume retro-reflects off the ball.
