    Skytrak and Swinguru

Hi everyone, having a few issues with SkyTrak and Swinguru just wondering if anyone can help - the issue is a USB issue.

My motherboard has 2 USB controllers and I have a PCIe 4 port USB3 controller and the issue is when I have Swniguru (with Kinect camera) plugged in, Skytrak doesn't read most shots... and the 3rd light (top light) often flashes when you walk up to the unit (may be cast a shadow?) ... but it's weird.

they are plugged in on individual controllers, so should not be any issue with data throughput... any ideas?

I connect direct or through wifi for the range software. Can the range software be connected via USB?

It is not an issue with connectivity. It is the IR from the kinect sensor reflects off of your lead leg and interferes with skytrak seeing the ball. The only way I have figured out to overcome it is to place as small black object at an angle between the ball and my lead leg. It reflects the IR away from the skytrak unit. It does interfere with Swinguru reading your foot/weight shift but everything else works fine. I have had some success with black pants and black shoes but not as consistent as the reflector. I am thinking about trying a black piece of cardboard on my lead leg. For my setup the skytrak is connected via wifi and works all the time if there is no interference from swinguru.

Hello all. Just installed Swinguru Pro on my PC. When I fire up the Skytrak range, Swinguru works fine, put the SkyTrak device will not track shots, and the top "ready" light stays red. I have a i7 3.4Ghz PC with 12GB Ram and a NVIDIA GT 720. SkyTrak works fine when Swinguru is off. I also have a BodiTrak mat installed. Any suggestions?

robpf, just a little clarification on this. A small black object between the ball and the lead leg? Like a small thin box on the htting mat maybe three to four inches high? I have a boditrak mat, so I probably will still capture front foot weight shift through the BodiTrak. Thanks for the help. Swinguru says they are working on this.

                    Hi Igor,

I did get Swinguru to look at my setup remotely. My graphics card is underpowered. But it may be best to follow your advice anyway. On the search for a good refurb pc with at least GTX 960 GPU. Have you been able to get your SkyTrak and Swinguru working together with the workaround from robpf?

I started out with an impact bag, and then I downsized to a 17" wide 15" high black pad I had lying around. It probably could be smaller. The key is you have to block the line of site coming from the ir emitters on the Kinect bouncing off or your lead leg an reflecting back into the Skytrak. Initially I had some luck with black pants and black shoes but even black will reflect ir. I think a flat surface works best and you need to angle it maybe 15 degrees off of the center line so that all reflected ir will go behind the Skytrak. It won't interfere with your swing but takes some getting used to. The ideal solution would be a gator for your lead leg made out of ir absorbing fabric, but I haven't been able to figure out what adequately absorbs ir yet. I don't think the pc is the problem, I was running both programs on a 7 year old PC with an underpowered graphics card and everything worked although the frame rate was probably a little low. I was surprised that the Swinguru capture worked. By the way swinguru did have a beta where you could enable skytrak as a device and it all worked. Unfortunately they took it out of the last update probably because the didn't want to support all of these misread problems.

Thanks, robpf. I'll see if I can replicate your setup. My skytrak top ready light goes red as soon as I uncover the Kinect Camera. I don't even have to stand at address to lose SkyTrak functionality.

My setup is in my barn so I probably have 10 to 15 ft behind me to the wall. It shouldn't matter once you set up the reflecting surface because all of the ir will be directed behind the skytrak. Good luck, I am currently shut down because of the cold weather.

Actually interesting point re reflection. You know I got it working some times... but the skytrak would often flash the laser on and off and i worked better for a left hander than right. Could be 100% the issue! I'll try that this week!!!

Anyone get this working in the last 6.5 weeks since the last post? Have been strongly looking at Swinguru and already have a SkyTrak. Actual IR absorbing materials are few and far between if that is the ultimate reason everyone seems to be having issues and guessing prohibitively expensive.
