  • SkyTrak - Side Spin

Does anyone have issues with the side spin readings with your SkyTrak? When I use Skytrak, it says I have a massive draw/hook and when I go to the course, I play a baby draw at the most (mostly straight). I was just curious if there is something wrong with my setup. I am using the same ball and I have the case with the level so I presume everything is setup correctly. I am developing some pretty bad habits and I am always missing greens and sometimes fairways to the right because I think the ball is going to come back.

Has anyone encountered this? If so, are there any suggestions on how I can change my setup to help match my actual ball flight on the course?

Has anyone been able to solve this issue. At my lesson today I hit nothing but draws but when I got home today and hit on my sky trak I was hitting nothing but fades and slices. Very frustrating

You might check your mat steel. Not an issue that I've ran into but something that I've heard before. Just a suggestion...

Gary how would the mat effect the spin?

I've read that different types of hitting surfaces can have an affect. Again, not something that I've personally experienced but have heard others say so. My guess would be that a different surface could be a little more grabby and turn the club over.

Another option would be your mention of lesson. Now I don't know your level of play so I certainly don't want to knock you in anyway. I used to take lessons quite often. Many times during a one on one lesson an instructor has been able to get me into position that would produce a draw only to have the position fleeting once getting back on my own. Lessons can be tough that way. Hard not to revert.

Best thing would be to talk with your instructor though.

    Hi

Have you ever figured out a resolve for this. I have posted a new topic and having issues with excessive side spin.

    thank you.

Does SkyTrak incorporate spin decay in their flight model?

Gotta wonder if Trackman got patents or copyrights on spin decay modelling

Spin decay isn't something esoteric with trackman. It's an obvious consequent of the physics and been known and modeled long before trackman even existed. Optimal Flight models spin decay and always has. I'm sure every decent trajectory analysys program does. Implementers do however take shortcuts at times since the effect isn't huge anyway. We've discussed spin decay wrt to Skytrak and tgc before if you use the search function.

I have Optimal Flight but it always agreed with my SkyTrak results...gotta give credit to that indoor swing karma.
    Working...
