  • Has anyone used a Skytrak with an almost golf ball?

Curious to see if it works or if there is a way to boost the input data to work for an almost golf ball so that it replicates a real ball. Would like to hit some stuff at home without a full cage or just to keep the noise level down.

I have, I get about 20 yards less on mid irons. In England we have stores called ' sports direct' , they sell plastic balls that look like almost golf balls, made by Dunlop, except they are closer to a real ball when it on skytrak. And a fraction if the price.

I've been using them for my 9 iron and up through 60 degree flop wedge. They work great for me with the skytrak on TGC. I place the ball behind the laser dot about half an inch and it reads great. I just purchased the Qolf balls and should have an opinion soon on the two side by side.

I have all of the different practice balls (qolf, almost, callaway), qolf and almost are by far the best. When you start getting up to the longer irons/driver, you lose a ton of distance using the fake balls. For shorter irons, it isn't a problem. I don't get a ton of backspin on my clubs (9 iron ~6k), almost had me at ~4.5K and the same distance.

Would recommend as long as u aren't planning on doing a full sim round with them.

I posted some data from the four different types of balls in the following thread:

Hi All, When I was researching the Skytrak one of my concerns was whether I could use foam practice balls accurately with it. I found a couple of comments
