    Skytrak network issue

Just got a new SkyTrak and I am having some issues connecting my SkyTrak device to it's app in network. My SkyTrak device is able to connect to my network ( I see a solid yellow light) and I can see the skyTrak device showing up on my router's client list.

I have a dual band router, so I ensure that both my SkyTrak and PC connect to 2.4Ghz network. I find it very strange that SkyTrak app is unable to detect the SkyTrak device. I can ping the SkyTrak device from my PC , so I know that the connection is active.

I am able to connect to my SkyTrak device in direct mode but I want the option of connecting to my device on network mode.

Anyone else experienced a similar issue ? Also, how can I register my skyTrak device if it won't connect via Network mode ?

Also , as an aside, did you guys take out the protective film on the lenses ? I haven't since there is a photocopied note in my SkyTrak box instructing specifically not to do it but in the SkyTrak manual it says you must remove the protective film. What ?!? Talk about confusing your customers.

A bit disappointed with how frustrating this setup process is.

Try setting up your Skytrak with the USB cable first off. Then once you have all of the network settings configured and it goes all green remove the USB cable.

I removed the plastic film and have had it removed for some time. Seeing your image I would certainly see how this could cause some confusion.

I had issues connecting via WiFi yesterday. First time that has ever happened. Works fine via USB, but not wifi. I reset my router and even unplugged it and restarted and still didn't help. Anyone ever experience that before?

Yes. This happened to me once as well. The only way for me to get it to reconnect was to hook it up via USB and then go through the network setup process again. Once I did that I was back in action.

moadhia also I forgot to mention although you maybe able to ping the device make sure the Skytrak and Computer devices you are using are ALL on 2.4Ghz. I wasn't able to get network mode to work correctly until I moved my PC over to the 2.4Ghz Wifi network.

I contacted tech support and they told me to leave the protective film on the unit. I agree, very confusing.

I did all of the registering and setup on a PC. If you have one I would say the it on the PC vs the IPad.

Ok.. am waiting until monday for my gaming laptop - will do it then.

also when i setup the skytrak in alignment mode both lasers turn on for a half a second and then both shut off permanently - i then have to shut everything off and turn it back on to get it going again... weird.. anyone else have this issue? havent had the opportunity to hit a shot on it yet

I would register it with the USB cable plugged in to a PC. Then try to set it up in network mode. As for the alignment issue install the latest Skytrak app into your PC that may fix the issue.

I figured out what the problem was with my device connecting via network mode. SkyTrak doesn't seem to like my router. I have the Asus RT-AC68U AC 1900 router. Its probably one of the most powerful / popular dual band routers out there and SkyTrak doesn't work with it.

I made my cell phone a hotspot and I was able to connect my PC and SkyTrak via network mode. On further research, its seems ,buried in the skygolf website, is a disclaimer that SkyTrak doesnt work with this specific brand of router. Hopefully it will save others from wasting time setting up.

I just received my skytrak a week ago and have had minor issues but have a couple questions... 1) will skytrak NOT work on 5g network? 2) mine is set up in garage and wifi is spotty I have att coming today to put in new router and I upped my speed package to 45... I have new gaming laptop as well with Perfect Golf package... When I set up yesterday I could only get the skytrak and laptop to synch in the house when I took it to the garage I would loose connection? Help for a novice computer guy

Yes skytrak doesn't work on 5ghz network. Both skytrak and your pc have to be on 2.4ghz network.

It seems that the wifi connection in your basement is spotty. You need to place router closer to your basement so that the wifi signal is strong enough for skytrak
