  • New Skytrak User (Sharing)

Just wanted to share with your guys and say how happy I am with the Skytrak after just 3 days of hitting on the range function indoors. Consider me very impressed.

My setup at the moment, is

    1. Skytrak USB connection to laptop.
    2. Quality mat with the optishot insert area. Which is a bit softer in the inlay than the mat and I can place a tee in there too. All level.
    3. Net Return net.
    4. Used with Prov-x1 only so far.
    5. My clubs, AP2 irons, Driver Titleist 913d2, some old Taylormade 3wood and hybrids which I need to upgrade.

I would be happy to share pics if anybody is interested.

My shots are exactly what I expected. Especially the driver to my disappointment in the 250's.

I am reading up on the tips and tricks, to avoid the occasional no-read, which is really the only problem I see at the moment. I haven't even used the alignment feature yet, but I will do so tonight.
I have hit pretty much every club in my bag except the putter, but realistically I did not get this for putting, it is all about ball-striking at this stage for me. I am a 10 handicap and this will help get me into the low single digits.

My next step along with alignment and a few tips/tricks will be what sim software to use. I am excited about this. I had read the JNPG as the go to software, but I don't know yet. Your comments on this would be greatly appreciated.

Get TGC, it's amazing. These guys put tons of work into the tournaments and it's so much fun to play..

Welcome, you're gonna love it even more once you cave in and get tgc. Game improvement package (which you need for sim play anyway) with virtual handicap is also good for judging how your practice is improving your game...

re: the misreads. I get loads if I use usb, I get virtually none via wifi. Don't know why, sure skytrak will tell you I'm wrong - but ive defo seen people on here who see the same. I don't go direct, I just connect both unit and pc to powerline wifi access point in shed, never had an issue. Skytrak on 2.4ghz network only, skytrak is old school in that regard. PC is hard wired to port on powerline.

Thanks, so TGC. Think I will have to get a dedicated PC for it, because my laptop doesn't look like it will cut it. Will try the wifi setup and see how that goes. Funny, I did the skills assessment and it didn't miss any shots, I go back to the range and boom, 1 out of 20 missed again.

Got the TGC, but only last night, so just got the license overnight, but I tried the skytrak range on wifi and it didn't miss a shot. Impressive. Can't wait to play tonight.

Well, I found that the new pc I bought, (kind of cheapy) is not even close to running TGC at all well. So I had to drop the resolution way down and it was still very choppy. Going to get a real gamer PC and fire her up again for tomorrow.

ok, the PC upgrade made a huge difference. Experiencing TGC in all its glory. Very smooth and impressive. I played around some random holes, and then played a full 18 on TPC Sawgrass, a course I have played in other golf games and am a bit more familiar with... Shot a 78, with one birdie, but I should qualify my settings, 4 ft gimmies, no wind and blue tees (?), certainly not the back tees. I started on the TPC Sawgrass version with the black tees and didn't reach the fairway on the first hole and said, yea, not ready for this yet.... haha...

Didn't really find a range I liked very much, so will need to search around for that some more...

I like the protee H20 range. That way I see just carry yardage on screen.

What's your pc spec? My current pc seems to run tgc at high settings without any problems. There's just a lag for a few seconds after I hit the shot, but other than that I don't have any problems with my current pc.

                      I got
                      Asus - G11CD Desktop - Intel Core i5 - 16GB Memory - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 - 512GB Solid State Drive + 1TB Hard Drive - Silver/Red

And it works awesome. Loads super fast on startup so I can keep it off when I am not using it.

I had a bit of a network issue, but because I was connecting the skytrak via wireless to the pc and not to the network. Make sure (this goes for anybody) connect using USB via the ST app in network mode. You will need to enter the network credentials (remove 5G connection from router as mentioned in other posts). Then you can unplug the usb and you will be on wifi (you can then exit ST App and start up TGC, connect box and play game in my case). It is outstanding, played a round today no disconnects and no misreads during the entire round (shot a 74!) I am loving it and the practice is starting to show on the real course.

Glad to hear you are enjoying your skytrak. I bought one early on but due to work and indoor ceiling heights at home I have not used it much. I changed professions and my new office is perfectly suited in one area not otherwise utilized to a full blown indoor practice setup with a projector and screen I already bought so I am setting it all up and shopping for a new computer to incorporate TGC so just cruising through your thread here to get current.
Just jumped on board with a SkyTrak August 2015 for my birthday present to myself.
