It must be my computer! Here is my reasoning. For whatever reason I went and confirmed again that the wifi lag is only 3-4 seconds when I use the practice range with Skytrak on my iPad. But it is 10-11 seconds when I use the practice range on my pc!

So now I am really stumped. There must be a logjam somewhere within the components of my pc that are slowing the receipt and display of shot information from the Skytrak Box. I turned off windows firewall and defender, so unless it is some setting on the graphics card I am baffled.

If your using a wireless router, check your wireless settings. see if you have your QOS turned on and your priorities set. i just ran and additional network off my existing and set that router so only my skytrak and laptop will be running on it. I set the QOS on my main router to give that skytrak router priority. depending on your router, you may not have access to it. I had issues with my laptop running the program since i did the windows 10 update a couple weeks ago. I just got that all figured out last night. Im not sure what computer you are running, but i went to MSI website and downloaded everything they had on their site for updates and drivers.

I think it is my computer. My iPad works fine - only 3-4second lag. Are there different settings on the graphic card that can be adjusted? I am going to go to my computer store where purchased the pc and find out.

It is some type of Nvidia as well I believe. Will check at the computer store that I am currently waiting to open. Darn 10am Saturday openings!

Here is the other kicker - when I hook my laptop by choosing the skytrak wireless signal, I only get 3-4 second lag!

so does that eliminate my video card now too?

all that is left is that something within the computer is slow to pick up the shot info sent over my 2.4 wifi network. But it is not the network because it works just fine wirelessly on my iPad.

OMG! OMG! 50 minutes until my guests arrive and I am hitting shots with 3 second lag on wireless!!!! I went to the Nivida website and auto detected my card and did a driver update.

Fingers crossed this is a permafix!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And its not. Turned off skytrak to move cables since don't need usb setup now. LOL turn it back on, with computer reboot, and back to lag. It was nice to hit 3 shots with no lag on wireless though.

If guests don't like lag, they can go shovel my snow!

I doubt they say anything about the lag. I was worried about that too but golfing with buddies indoors in January is amazing. The last thing they will care about is the lag. Have fun!!!

Im no expert but i would think the cpu would have more influence on lag than the video card. I think if you see the skytrak in your wireless networks than that means you havent entered the address and password into the skytrak app while setting it up. You should only see that one time then after that it should be automatic. I use mine in network mode usually a 3 second delay. There is a guy that i play with online and he use to have a lower cpu and his was 5-6 and once he upgraded his computer its now 3

Well it took a good three hours for the three of us to play 9 holes at Augusta. Machine never locked up once, but lag was 12 seconds per shot. Guests had a great time. Time to get back to the lab and figure out why I had those glorious three short lag shots. I totally jinxed myself by posting that I may have figure it out. LOL.

Finally.....success. Took a bit of work but finally got a Dlink PowerLine AV 500 Wireless Extender kit setup today. Named the wifi signal a separate name skytrakhookup for good measure so only the laptop and skytrak will be hooked up to it. Had to charge up skytrak a bit because was acting funny, but finally achieved wireless connection and..........

3 SECOND LAG ON WIRELESS!!!!! Yes! Worked on both skytrak driving range and also on TGC. Still confused as to why I could get 3 second lag on Ipad with no extender but went ahead and bought one and tried it out anyways. Glad I did.

Looking forward to many years of wireless short lag fun with my toy. Finally!

ps because of where my extender is, I can hardwire my laptop into it. Get like 6ms lag on speedtest ping measure that way, vs 23 ms with wireless connection. Would that speed up things even more? Just may try it for fun.

Really really happy. Thanks to all of those who have offered advice and support!

Great news! Getting that wireless working really is super key for the best experience you can get with the skytrak. Glad it finally worked out

Thanks so much. I really feel motivated to use the Skytrak again. I hit about 100 chips for fun tonight while watching the Sony open. Machine worked perfectly again. So happy.

I guess at the end of the day my little ipad just worked better at receiving information over the old wifi than my gaming laptop. Such a red herring in diagnosing the problem!

And now I am getting really greedy. I purchased an aver media tv tuner card so I can take the output from my cable box and watch golf and other sporting events in the top right corner of my screen while I am practicing or playing a round. I am just waiting for the package to arrive with the cabling I need then it's go time. Pretty sure it will work since I was hitting balls tonight and having them register and show on main screen while having a YouTube window video playing ( George Knudsen swing motion) in the top right hand corner. I am like a kid in a candy shop now!

Depending on your cable service provider...you could have used their online app to view live TV, assuming you're connected to your home network.

I have TWC, and I usually open up their online app and can view almost all the channels I get inside on my TV, right there on my projector screen. Recently I moved a spare TV out there too, which I do the same with.

I didn't even think of the using the online app. I've also got TWC and will have to give this a try. Would be nice watching TGC while playing TGC.

Not sure if Telus Optic TV offers that up here in Canada. As it is though, my kids eat up most of my allowed download amount between Xbox and Netflix and YouTube so I best stay off.

Do you have anything emiting any infrared signal(i.e. Microsoft kinect). That was my issue. Just a thought

No but I did have a bathroom with copper pipes in between my router and the simulator area. Kudos to the guy at the computer store for explaining the impact of some metals on wifi.

I would pretty much have to say it was my own stubbornness in believing that my wifi signal was good just because my ipad had 3 second lag and my pc 11s. I think if I just went straight to wifi extender at the start I could have avoided a lot of pain. Still puzzed why my usb connection quit working with anything longer than a 1 foot usb but that is no long how I hook up so I will leave it alone.

I hope by documenting my struggles and successes, others can save a lot of time. Whenever I see wifi problem posts now, I go straight to recommending a wifi extender.
                    Working...
