Skytrak Camera - How far does it take photos

Hello all, new to the forum and starting from scratch. Wondering if anyone knows exactly how far the skytrak cameras take photos? From their webpage it appears only a couple of inches or maybe a foot. Looking to build a simulator and how far I need from the tee to screen determines where I can put it.

Screen can be as close as you want to be able to swing club and not hit screen with the club.

Unless I misunderstood the OP's question which I believe was how far from the unit the ball should be for sky trak to register I believe the answer is 11.5-12.5 inches or where the red laser dot is.

I think he is referring to how big of a window the ball is traveling through during the tracking process. nothing to do with ball placement or distance from screen. I have no idea but i bet it is all done within the first few inches following impact, maybe some else will know more..
Just jumped on board with a SkyTrak August 2015 for my birthday present to myself.

Yes, it's maybe a foot of travel or so that gets measured/photographed. Most people aim for about 10 feet of room between the screen and the ball, but you can go closer if space dictates the need. I agree with Keith- you can go as close as you can swing a club (although you might wear through a screen faster).

Thanks for the feedback! In a perfect world I would prefer the 10 ft gap between tee and screen but I am going to be limited to 6-8 feet. I just did not want to put the screen too close and effect the skytrak reading.

I hit from about this same distance with a skytrak and there is no issue, but it's worse on the screen the closer you get to it.
