  • PSA to Buyers or Sellers: Transferring SkyTrak Software Licenses

Here's a quick Public Service Announcement for any potential sellers or buyers of a pre-owned SkyTrak. I was mistaken about what SkyGolf would and would not transfer between owners after a pre-owned unit traded hands. Fortunately, I had an excellent transaction with an understanding buyer and we worked it out easily.

Here are the key points so maybe someone can learn from our experience:

    1) Any remaining portion of the Game Improvement Package (GIP) or Play and Improve Package (PIP) WILL transfer from the old owner to the new with no issue. Simply have the serial number of the SkyTrak, the seller's account name, and the buyer's account name and email. Open up a chat window and they will take care of it for you. The "Sell/Detach/Transfer" option on the SkyGolf website doesn't work properly, so just open a chat and you will have it taken care of quickly.

    2) Any remaining portion of the yearly, recurring-fee simulation subscriptions WILL NOT transfer from the seller to the buyer. There are no refunds to the original purchaser, and there are no transfers to the new purchaser. Basically, once you buy a yearly simulation subscription, it is tied to your user account only until it expires. You can apparently tie a different SkyTrak to it later, but it has to stay with the original purchaser's account. I am unsure if this is the case with e6 and TGC yearly fee-based subscriptions, but it was with JNPG.

This was never clear to me in any of my research, so hopefully it will help someone else in the future.

I don't own any simulation software on SkyTrak but this really discourages me to purchase TGC. $1000 down the drain if I decide to ditch SkyTrak and move onto GC2.

there is no conflict moving to GC2 or Protee from skytrak with TGC you just can not go the other direction

That isn't the case and isn't what TorchRedRob posted.

What he said. Please read again. I said yearly fee subscriptions, not 1 time purchases

Thank you for this post. I'm currently selling my Skytrak on eBay and would have hated to have mislead any bidders...

You bet. I felt awful, too, because I had advertised it in my posts on both forums. Fortunately we both only had a couple of months left on that package, so not a huge/costly problem.

Make sure you use skygolf chat to do the transfer before you follow the online "Detach/transfer" instructions, too. Otherwise, it will detach just the skytrak, and not the GIP, then it leaves you scratching your head with what to do next. The first thing the chat rep asked for was the serial number, which of course I didn't have handy, because I already "detached" it into skygolf purgatory. LOL! Best wishes on your final sell price. Looks like there is already significant bidding on it.

I appreciate this information as well. I will be selling my skytrak in the next month and was going to advertise the remaining JNPG subscription, but looks like that's a no-go! Thanks!
