  • weird software issue

I have the Skytrak software installed on my laptop PC and it works fine. Today I tried to install the software on my desktop PC. It appeared to install fine, and it starts normally, but as soon as it reaches the login screen the mouse stops responding and instead flickers and won't leave the center of the Skytrak window. Alt-tab out of Skytrak and the mouse is fine. Go back in, goes haywire again.

As a control I installed the software on my other desktop. This time everything performed normally. The big difference was that on the second desktop the installation procedure included installing C++ Visual Studio, and accepting the software terms.

On my first PC no mention is made of installing Visual Studio, and no dialog appears for accepting the terms. I've tried several re-installs and re-boots, changing mouse usb ports, etc, but nothing changes the results.

I called tech support but they said it must be the configuration on my 1st desktop.

    Has anyone experience this before?

Do you have administrator rights on the 2nd PC, but not on the first by any chance?

You could also try installing the C++ Visual Studio Redistributable manually from this link on the first PC

The Visual C++ Redistributable Packages install run-time components that are required to run C++ applications built using Visual Studio 2015.

I did try an install using my admin account but the results were the same. I'll take a look at the Visual Studio manual install. But the lack of a dialog for the accepting the terms is the really strange part.

Installed Visual Studio manually, included the acceptance terms, but did not solve the problem with the mouse in the Skytrak software. Also tried booting in safe mode and still had the problem.

That's a new one....Can you give your desktop specs? Also, keep in mind that we need Visual C++ 2010 https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/down...s.aspx?id=5555

Yes, it is very strange. I have Visual C++ 2010 installed as well.

The machine that is having the problem is a:

            Intel Core I7 2.67ghz
            12gb ram
            Nvidia GTX 660
            Windows 10 x64

hey jaus not sure if you have solved your issue, but i had the same problem, the cause of it would be if you have any other devices like throttle quadrant or flight sim yoke can interfer. try disconnecting them then do the sign in and then you can plug those devices back and all should work fine

Thanks, actually I had thought about that, but in my case it doesn't seem to be the cause. In fact I have found that the problem is only intermittent for me now. I haven't changed anything and now sometimes I can get the mouse to work, sometimes it starts acting up again, but if I do an Alt-Tab I can get it working again. Strange.

Hey Jaus, I'm experiencing the same exact problem as you are. I have been trying to figure out what causes the mouse to act weird like this for weeks. I think the problem also effected my TGC software I just downloaded, it seems like the problem is only affecting browser based software / flash. Have you found a solution to this problem?

No, I haven't. I thought the problem had gone away, but it happened again yesterday until a restart of the software saw the problem go away (for now). I have yet to see a pattern to what causes the problem, or what will make it go away consistently.

I had the same problem when I first got my Skytrak last summer. After trying everything suggested above, I finally tracked it down to a bad driver for my Wacom graphics tablet. I had upgraded to Windows 10, but there was no driver update for the graphics tablet. I uninstalled the driver and went back to a USB mouse, and the problem was solved.

                        Hey Larryku,
Thank you for the advise! I have fixed the problem. So I went to the device manager and under human interface devices, find joystick or wacom drivers and uninstall them. Problem solved!
