Golf ball lifespan

I have Bridgestone diablo tour and callaway chrome softs (my son is on staff with Callaway so got some freebies) mostly. I have maybe cracked 2 balls in the last year and I have a pretty decent swing speed. Maybe it's my screen. Not the greatest graphically some some of those out there but good enough. I also leave then in my very cold garage so I dont know.

I crack my ProV1s maybe after 100-150 full swings.

That would be about 4-5 rounds of playing golf outside. I can't remember if I've played that many rounds with the same ball, so that would be my guess as to why you don't experience cracked ball outdoors. I'm sure the cold garage adds to this.

Also why range balls are garbage, because they're built to be hit 100's of times without cracking.

Goatbarn I vaguely remember that you hit into a net sometimes in front of your screen (at least I think it was you)....... Have you experienced any less cracked balls hitting into the net vs impact screen?

Maybe I have been lucky but no cracked balls yet. I have hit a mixture of Pro V1, V1X, and Project A's. I am not as long as some guys on here but my driver ball speed is typically 150 mph-155 mph. (currently hitting into a net vs screen).

Eh, unfortunately I don't hit into often enough to go from new ball to cracked, with just the net.

My ball speeds are similar.

I would think, from a physics standpoint, the impact into the screen is much, much less stressful than that with the club. Even by purely the length of time in contact with both things. Ball on face for much shorter a period of time than ball on screen.

SkyTrak has written that the ideal is a white ball with a straight black line logo. My interpretation is that the cameras are looking for the logo, interpolating a line through it, then sees the logo again a split second later, draws a line through that, and calculates spin from that change of position of the interpolated lines. My guess is that a straight dark logo would be more reliable than a pale curvy one. And the calculation wasn't designed to pick up or use the soccer ball pattern, so it's no help at all. Some people have talked about drawing one inch lines with a black sharpie, I haven't tried it yet.

Put down that Sharpie! I tried that with my first screen a while back and you just end up with 1+ inch black marks on your screen that are pretty much impossible to clean off perfectly without some smudging and ruining that spot on the screen a bit.
