  • JNPG Driving Range/Practice Option

    Morning all!

Long time lurker and my first post was yesterday in regards to the SkyTrak FMJ. On a side not I'm ecstatic for it to arrive so I can stop using my makeshift acrylic shield.

But anyway on to my reason for posting. I’ve been using the regular SkyTrak driving range software with the GI package since around October. I’ve seen dramatic changes in my game and that alone has paid for the unit in my mind. I am interested in some different driving range options and the $99 JNPG practice option has my attention.

I don’t really need a sim for courses inside, I’m a member at my local course and I play once or twice a week normally. I do however want a more realistic range to practice on in my sim setup. I can’t find any reviews on just the practice option as it seems most people go for the sim option.

Any thoughts on the practice option would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

Honestly I would say for what you are looking for the GI package and range software will be more helpful than the more realistic range in JNPG. I was under the same impression when I purchased the JNPG subscription only to find that its really more for simulation play than for refining skills. The lack of real useful shot information after each shot is probably the biggest difference and for me thats huge. I made the choice between Perfect Golf and the Golf Club based on realism in ball physics. However with TGC i noticed from the youtube videos that at least they have much better ball and club data after each shot. If they added the option to display more shot information I would say Perfect Golf would be "perfect". Well almost.

I was very disappointed in the JNPG range. The course sim is awesome, but the range is pretty useless. Little to no launch data, no data summary tools, and you have to freaking click "next" after every damn shot. So annoying!

If I'm looking to hit balls for improvement purposes, I always use the standard SkyTrak app. I would strongly recommend against buying only the JNPG driving range.

You don't have to click next after every shot. You can set a timer on the post shot screen display from 1 second to I believe 8 seconds.

I did find the setting to automatically go to the next shot without having to click "next". But if you look at TGC post shot info, its very cool with clubhead graphics etc.

How does tgc display the club graphics. Do they use the ball data to calculate the club data.

Good info here, thanks guys. I'll just stick with the regular SkyTrak software. I might dabble in the sim software once I get my sim room up and running.

          Once again thanks everyone!

Agree - jnpg driving range is not as good as the skytrak. I've got the basic jnpg package - does anyone else have this? I've tried the 'record round' option w/my buddies and it never saved. One day I went back to check on it and there were 2 'saved' rounds. I opened them, and they just sat there like they were waiting for me to hit on the first hole. Has anyone recorded a round in jnpg?
