  • iPad App Losing Data?

    This has happened a few times to me now, but tonight it happened on 3/5 practice sessions:
    I was testing 4 different balls, with 3 different clubs. I started with a warmup using a PW. After 13 shots I started testing, hitting 5 balls with each club/ball combination and starting a new session at each club change.
    Session 1 (PW) saved perfectly.
    Sessions 2,3,4 have all disappeared without trace from my iPad. However, all of the data is in my Skygolf account so it definitely happened!

    Luckily I saved screenshots but it seems really weird/annoying as if some kind of local corruption is occuring? This is on an iPad Air 2 and the latest Skytrak version.

    I thought this data might sync back from the cloud post 2.5.4. However, it did not so it still seems to be missing...

      Whoa, crazy. Is it possible to send me your app/360 login details via PM as well as your unit serial number? I can't even think of a way that could happen. But I'd love to investigate it asap.

        Actually, I just had a thought as to how this could happen You said you used "new session" button each time? It could be a local database display bug. Still would like to dig into it asap.

            I know it isn't ideal, but see what happens if you exit practice and go back in when changing balls. If my theory is correct, that should work in the interim.

              I did that this afternoon and it still lost the data. I have pm'd you the missing data exports and emailed you the session log from this afternoon.

                This is continuing to happen to me periodically (approx 1:10 ratio). It was a single session in direct mode. No sign of the data in the app or the Skygolf website but I have the exported pdf (which I do every time to workaround this issue).

                      James James , so are you saying that all of your shots are showing up in 360 but no showing in the iPad app? You said this happens 1 out of 10 practice sessions? Is there anything in particular you notice that you may be doing (certain club, deleting shots, number of clubs, number of shots)? And you are doing these in direct mode, then syncing the data up afterwards? If in direct mode, immediately after you exit practice, can you see your sessions in the Profile > History? Since all your sessions are up in 360, what happens if you delete the app and reinstall - does it pull those sessions down to your iPad so all are listed now?

                        1. Yes, all shots present in 360.
                        2. Nothing in particular. It could be a large number of shots (>50) in a single session.
                        3. Correct, direct mode to capture shots, then export to pdf/email, then wait 30s to ensure data is written, then end session, then switch Skytrak off, allow app to sync after it reconnects to wifi.
                        4. Because of this issue I always immediately check the history tab, when this issue occurs the data never shows.
                        5.Haven't tried deleting the app, but I have it installed on my PC and it doesnt sync the missing data. Will try this now on my iPad.

                          Just deleted the app from my iPad and reinstalled. The missing data from today did not sync from 360.

                            So you have shots in your SkyGolf 360 account that are not syncing back down to a freshly installed app? The only way I could possibly see that happening is if you somehow had two different accounts. But that wouldn't explain any 'missing' data. You'd just have different histories. If you'd like to provide me your account creds in a PM, I'd be happy to dig into this on the backend.
