i was watching the genesis open today and noticed on the par 3 with trackman guys were hitting shots about 155 yards with 130mph plus ball speed. I can't figure out how that is possible. I checked the flight optimizer and even with super high spin rates, 175 yards was as short as I could get the ball to go. Even with cold conditions I would think a 150 yard shot would have ball speeds around 115 mph. Any thoughts?

I watched the replay and the hole was 16. Played at 151 yards. I saw three guys play the shot. The first played an 8 iron 155 yards with 120 mph ball speed. The next guy hit 7 iron to 150 with 115 mph. The last guy hit 8 iron 158 yards with 130 mph ball speed. I'm surprised the ball speeds varied that much.

Very cool find. I'm definitely subscribing to that. A little infuriating seeing dudes with 170+ ball speeds with 3 woods, even if they are pros hahaOriginally posted by TorchRedRob View PostOh that hole. Yeah, they were knocking those down into a breeze. I caught the compilation on youtube. There's a channel that always posts only the trackman shots from every tourney. It's pretty cool:

HA! I thought the same thing. Fortunately Furyk is hitting a 6-iron at 124mph to make us feel a little better. Until DJ hits his muscle back 7-iron at 137mph! <shakes head>Originally posted by Ironstrokes View Post
