  • New Trackman Simulator Guidance

Just contracted with Trackman for a simulator build that's being installed in the coming months. Hoping for some help from those who have gone through it. I am putting the simulator in a 18'x14' room with no windows. I've got can lights as well as the OERT light planned on separate switches. My questions are around paint color and sound absorption. What are your suggestions? Do I need to do a fully blacked out room? Should I put up acoustic panels or should I invest in some type of sound absorbing drywall?

Any help is very much appreciated. If you have any guidance or lessons learned about anything else, I'm all ears. Thanks!

18x14 seems pretty tight for a trackman.

1' from wall to screen, 10' screen to hitting area, 7' from hitting area to trackman. it's a residential location for me just to practice in. not a social setting. i'm told it'll fit fine. disagree? thanks for feedback.

Sorry I thought 14 was the depth. Should be ok with 18. The more the better though. Does it have a short indoor mode like the mevo +?

Congrats on the purchase and welcome to the forum. There was a lot of great news today from TM and some of this goes a great deal to making your room size work well!

not sure if your room is built or not, but if you can, then adding some form of sound solution would be a good idea if the room is in your house. There has been a good discussion on this issue here in the past three or four months and suggest giving that a search to see what others suggest. Likely deemed on if room is currently finished or not.

On painting the walls, I think painting the front half of your room would help, but provided you get a bright enough projector then this should not be an issue. Suspect you are going for the 5000 lumen projector that TM supplies and this should be enough even in a light coloured room.

again congrats! You are going to really love the product and the software. Lots of new things coming.

thanks, i'm just starting to read some of the announcements. the room is currently just studs. it's a single use room that is only for golf (my wife is a saint) so the aesthetic of a fully painted room doesn't bother me too badly if it's the right thing to do for performance and visibility but the half painted room may look cool. i'll search the forum to see what others say. excited for the install. really appreciate your feedback.

Regarding sound here is what the pros say.

Something that made me sad thinking I could use foam to help with sound.

Great info here. Thanks so much for sharing. My builder was awesome when I spoke with him about this and added acoustic insulation in this room for me since the walls weren’t closed yet and they were putting insulation in anyways. I may add acoustic panels throughout the room in spaces too.

Did you purchase the trackman flex cage? If so do you mind sharing the cost and the dimensions of the unit

No. I didn’t buy the flexcage. I did a custom build. The cost is very dependent on square footage and what add-ons you want. I’d recommend reaching out to Trackman to get a quote. The rep I’m working with is extremely helpful and has been awesome to deal with from day 1.
