Trackman Virtual Golf Questions

I have made the decision to go with a TM4. This will be used outdoors, but I would like the opportunity to possibly still use the new Target Practice Range, which I think is part of Virtual Golf.

So two questions:

1) If I a buy at TM4 does the Virtual Golf software come as part of the base price (like TPS) or is it an additional cost? If additional cost, about how much?
2) Does any one have TPS running on a MacBook Pro either boot camp or VMed through VMWare Fusion or Parallels? If so, have you also tried to run Virtual Golf? Also, what spec MacBook Pro do you have and is the performance reasonable?

Congrats on the decision, you are going to be very happy!

When you buy a TM new, your purchase comes with a one year software and hardware license. Neither of these have to be renewed, but each has their benefits. On the software front, once you have an active software license, then virtual golf is included as are all software upgrades that are made while you own the license. Once the software license expires, then you can choose not to renew (which would then mean loss of virtual golf), pay $1000 for a one year license or $2000 for a three year license.

I went with the 3 year license as it breaks down very competitively with what other virtual golf software might cost (TGC2019 being the exception to my cost analysis).

I don’t have a mac, but others have been successful in loading TPS on a Mac and under the FAQ section of the support page of TM’s website there are instructions for getting TPS on a Mac.

Thanks Dax. As usual your answers are very helpful. I have been a Mac guy for awhile going back to college in the early 80s and have continued to use them at home since I deal with tech at work and have personally found Macs to be easier to support at home, though I think that changed a long time ago with advent of Windows 7 years ago when stability finally came to the PC platform.

All that said, I did see that TPS was doable on the Mac. Wondering if the Virtual Golf would be as I now Trackman specs NVidia in their requirements and MacBook Pros use AMD GPUs in their higher end MacBook Pros.

Thanks again for your comments. VG is a nice to have, not a must, so wouldn’t be a deal breaker for me.

Cheers and sorry I can’t answer your max question well, but do. I do recall someone on the Facebook group noting that he used a 2020 MacBook Pro that he said he needed to juice up a bit in order to meet the min specs. I have found zero issues using windows, but if you don’t have to and you then why bother. Stick with what you know. I am sure a TM rep can help you with more details, but suspect they may be reluctant to give anything definitive as they can only really comment on what they support. I asked about AMD processors once and they could not answer specifically and so I just tested my office rig and seemed to run just fine.
