  • E6 Connect: Zero Side Spin

    Hi,
I'm a total newb when it comes to golf simulators. I recently moved into a new apartment building, and one of the amenities is a golf simulator. I don't know what type of simulator we have but it does have the E6 software.

One of the issues though, is the E6 software always registers 0 side spin. As such, every shot goes straight.

Could someone please point in me in the right direction on how to diagnose this? Are there any settings in the E6 software that I can play around with?

    Thanks!

You will need to know what launch monitor you have as E6 will take its data from that.

0 Spin usually means there is something wrong with the math-modeling in the ball flight or flawed measurement of the ball spin. You should always have some ball spin in real life, but in a simulation, the spin will affect the curvature with side-spin causing the ball left or right curvature and back-spin affecting loft. Forward spin shows up with putting or if you top a ball (it will drive the ball into the ground). You could hit a driver with 0 spin by hitting a ball in the downward swing so you deloft the clubface to a flat plane. In baseball, it's called a screwball because it does a weird flight and it's really hard to throw.

Side-spin is mathematically derived from the ball spin rate and ball spin angle and gives draw L or fade R side spin depending on the angle the ball spin. The dimples help 'grab' the air and make the ball vier left or right based on spin rate and air density (air viscosity. In E6 that would be elevation).
