Gaming Laptop

Hi all

Difficult question I suppose but I'm looking to buy a gaming laptop to run the software on. E6 quote requirements but is there any point going above this or is there a point of diminishing returns? i.e. will the graphics, speed . smoothness etc be much better if i go for a much higher spec ie. i7 core, 16gb ram with the new 3 series Nvidia graphics or is it just completely overkill?!

also i have to go for a laptop as my simulator is outside and so a tower is not an option

Thanks for providing the extra information regarding the requirement of a laptop. So To answer your question, need to know a few things. Budget and Expectations. Are you looking to have run your simulator in 4K? Are you interested in upgrade path down the road? For example, if you are currently using a Skytrak but hope to one day have an indoor setup with a Uneekor, you would need to make sure your processor is an Intel.

budget? What is your budget just for your laptop
What is your display device? Are you going to use the laptop screen, and external monitor, TV, or projector?

Thanks. I intend to link up to a 4K monitor at some point. I don’t plan to use any other tracking device or upgrade to an indoor simulator. Budget around £1500-2000.

This has a 3070 and will comfortably run 4K, however its not available till March.

I have been thinking the same. It is not a fast first person shooter so I would imagine any 30xx even in a laptop would be ok for 4k. I was tempted by a laptop but fan noise is annoying to me. Though some let you go silent for silently decreased performance.

I have ordered a small ITX PC now with a 3060 TI. This will perform like a laptop 3080 due to the power constraints of a laptop (around 130Watts).

But still in 2 minds. Laptop is obviously more portable and comes with a screen which is useful even though I have spare screens as turning to a projector screen when selecting things is annoying.
