Today I got an email notifying me of a big update with the PinSeeker App. PinSeeker going forward will be using the Vendor Plaid that allows users to link your bank accounts for faster payouts. I started playing the closest to the pin competitions sometime in August and love it. I don't see much talk about the app on here and I am curious to hear how others like it.

I just picked up E6 and started using PinSeeker about a month ago. I think it is nice product and adds a new layer to sim golf that helps scratch that itch if you like playing for money. I don’t like that the buy-in has nearly doubled for each tournament recently, though.-
I know that they mentioned more payouts in their email when they announced it, but I don’t actually see that happening in practice. For instance, the weekly tournament in October had a $20 buy-in (this week is $46) with a 1st prize of $225 (this week is also $225), a 2nd prize of $150 ($135), 3rd prize of $125 ($85), 4th of $110 ($65), 5th of $100 ($50), 6th $90 ($45), 7th $85 ($42), 8th $80 ($39), 9th $75 ($36), 10th $70 ($34), down to 30th of $25 ($18). As you can see the buy-in has more than doubled, and the prize money has been cut. Before, even if you placed 30th you would still make money, now you need to place in the top 5 to even get your buy-in money back. Also, in October they gave $1875 to charity and this week only $260. Honestly, I’m not sure if I plan on playing in many more of the cash tournaments unless they get the payouts closer to what they used to be.
Edit: Maybe this week is an anomaly or they made a mistake inputting the payouts, because the total payout only adds up to ~$1,250 (short of their advertised payout of $2,300). Hopefully, they get it straightened out.Last edited by bbjr; 11-24-2021, 03:53 PM. -
bbjr sorry for delay, I have been out of pocket. I think that payouts better reflect the entry now. I am curious what users think about paying 30 spots. I think paying less spots and increasing payments to top 15 or 20 would be better. what's your thoughts? -
Wormburner Yes, it looks like the payouts are better this week, I’m happy to see that. As far as your thought of higher payouts to the top 10-15 spots and decreasing the payouts to the bottom 15 spots, I could see it going either way. On one hand, you might isolate the fringe players from wanting to play as much since they don’t typically place very high, but you may draw in more of the better players. Once they start doing the flighted tournaments, I can see this approach making more sense.

Hey Wormburner and bbjr - tell me more about PinSeeker? How do you start playing? Do you have to put money in to start? How much are you winning in tournaments is it hard to stay consistent? Is PinSeeker requiring that Sim golfers only play (I hope), and are there any LMs that it does not allow to play? What are the settings required for each course for tournament play, etc? Maybe there is no tournament play - but only closest to pin?
I've not heard anything about it yet... so a little summary would be helpful, coming from someone that has experience with it.Comment

Brettster So currently, PinSeeker is only available for closest to the pin competitions, although they are talking about expanding into other areas with future updates. They have both free and cash tournaments, and depending on which state you live in, depends on whether you can enter into the cash tournaments. The buy-in for the cash tournaments is currently around $5 on the low end, and up to around $46 for the high end. This typically buys you 2-5 swings, depending on the tournament.
In order to play, you need to have a simulator with E6, and also the PinSeeker app on your phone. I am not sure if any launch monitors are disallowed. You will go to the PinSeeker option on E6 and it will show you a QR code that you scan with the app on your phone and this registers you for the tournament and starts a timer (usually 2-3 minutes) to play the tournament. I believe the course settings are taken care of automatically. Cash prizes are anywhere from the buy-in up to about $250 depending on the tournament (larger buy-ins have larger cash prizes), and pay-outs are usually about the top 20-25 closest to the pin shots. You have to land on the green for the shot to count, otherwise it is “OB”.Comment

Nice, so it's 2-5 swings on a closest to pin? I hope they would expand to full tournaments... is anyone doing that now? I know it's huge in Asia, I think they even have Pro tournaments over there with big cash payouts, now that would be interesting! Sponsors and everything too... hah... This could go huge - I would think, with so many people getting into Sim golf lately, especially with the Garmin R10 only $600 and it comes with E6.

Brettster, bbjr gave a great summary of the App. Loads of fun and has free games that you win "bragging rights" also there are 2 to 3 free games you can win shirts, towels and other sweet gifts. The cash matches payout a ton of spots so you don't necessarily have to be in top 5 or top 10 to win some cash over your entry fee. Download the app and check it out! PinSeeker also is a great company not only providing some fun competition but they donate to charity foundations that revolve around golf for each competition.Comment

I forgot to mention that if you are an iOS E6 connect user, PinSeeker is currently not available on the ios version of E6. Pinseeker is working on a solution to get that fixed so that the iOS users can play as well.Comment

I have played over 300 of their events since July, both free and paid (more than paid for my annual E6 subscription luckily). It's fun but challenging and not exactly easy to win, but it helps if you choose the types of shots/yardages you are comfortable with hitting. I'm a decent wedge/short iron player, so I typically avoid the 180-200 yard events as I don't think I can cash in those. I would also like to see it expand, I think a paid points league or a skins game on a regular basis would be great.Comment
