  • Options for speeding up multiplayer local play?

I am looking for suggestions on how to speed up multiplayer rounds in e6 Connect. If we have a foursome, it usually takes us as long or longer than it takes to play a real course. We don't usually do putting, but each shot still takes a long time once you figure out who is out, what the yardage/elevation is, and choose a club rather than (theoretically on a real course) having all this done while the other players are taking their shots.

I was really hoping there would be an option to have each player play the entire hole before the next player played, but I didn't see that as an option. Is there a software platform out there that offers that option?

I wrote above "change after each hole" but I meant after each stroke.. yes, every stroke. It won't let me edit for some reason.

I’m not totally on board with each player finishing a hole before another, however, the pace of play for more than 2 people is an issue.

Perhaps a compromise could be to display a small box underneath the overhead map/lie type area that shows who is next, their yardage, elevation and lie type. It doesn’t need to be fancy. Just enough for that person to grab the likely right club. It wouldn’t be a perfect solution but it would help.

Neither FSX 2020 or FSX Play allow one player to finish before the rest play. When it's 4 people it usually takes us about 4 hours + to finish on FSX 2020, maybe a touch longer on FSX Play. I play every Wednesday with the same person, and he's on a bit of a timeline, we can play 18 holes in 1 hour and 45 minutes. He's a 2 handicap on the simulator, I'm a 10.

We don't sit hardly at all, we manual putt on a 23' putting strip and we pay attention between shots. I play better golf that way than in a foursome on the sim, just like on the course. But I don't enjoy it as much as when we play with a foursome, just as when we are on the course. The social dynamic is what slows down play, it's not the software.

If people play "ready" sim golf it goes very quickly. E.G. on the new FSX Play, when one hole is finished, the program starts the next hole by doing a "flyover" with a big banner showing the approximate yardage and the handicap, there is no way (currently, hope they change that and fix the yardage issue) and it takes about 10 seconds. 18 x 10 = 180 seconds, or 3 minutes. We can adjust for that by telling one less joke, or not bitching so much about current affairs.

Look for ways to improve the "flow". When we play usually the non-hitter is standing by the mouse or keyboard to assist with green views, aiming, distances to objects, etc, that saves a lot of time.

I've noticed sim golf with multiple players takes as long or longer than real golf. I tend not to invite as many people over for that reason. While social is good, kills the golf experience for me. Gimme-on-green is tolerable.

Playing with one extra is not too bad, once you go beyond that, it really starts to stretch out.

What I’d like to see is a scenario where you can load a friend or 2’s round and play your round and their shots are played simultaneously

Like the ghost function on some racing games? I could get behind that.
