  • TGC Software for Skytrak New User Review

Just wanted to give a review to anyone on the fence about buying TGC. Bought in OCT played 20 rounds.

    Thumbs up
    1. Graphics - Looks superior to me than the competitors. Far superior to E6(Free Demo, played whistling staights 100's of times) or in my opinion to PG (Play it on Steam)
    2. Gameplay- Have had no trouble getting used to the software. FInding great courses to play changing settings to my preferences.
    3. Price - I am very happy to have purchased the software as I hate the idea of doing yearly rentals.(This was a deal breaker for the other software)
    4. Integration with the Skytrak - I can not believe how well the software interprets the skytrak data. When I first staring using TGC I was getting pretty pissed off with the distances but after a few weeks of getting used to hitting indoors and picking the ball off the mat cleaner, my distances are close to on course numbers.

    Thumbs Down
    1. Price - I know I had it as a plus but $1000 clams is a lot of money.
    2. Still waiting for my rebate
    3. Had to buy a new computer for the software. Another grand. Please don't tell my wife.
    4. Announcer LOVE/HATE Love when he compliments me but SOB tells me one more time how my ball is in the rough. I will find him and hit him with a lob wedge.

Overall I could not be happier. I find myself rushing thru dinner to get to the basement to play 18 holes. Any software that gets me energized to practice is incredible. For me this package is perfect now if I only didn't have to pay the skytrak fee every year.

You have to pay the $99 to ST in order to use any sim or software? No way around that?

No way to avoid it. The packages are all listed on their webpage. Obviously it raises the true cost of the Skytrak and should be factored into the purchase price when comparing with alternatives.

Also I understand even if you own TGC on a skytrak you can't resell it or something like that. And apparently skytrak limits TGC to only two transfers to other computer so if you computer fails or you upgrade too often your $1k TGC becomes a paperweight. I could be wrong though so best to confirm on those.

Every platform has its unique features,. TGC is awesome and luckily if you want to run TGC you have several choices for hardware.

Of course you can resell it. You can resell your SkyTrak + TGC to another user and you can resell TGC by itself. You can't sell TGC to another SkyTrak user due to hardware security. And if you really feel the need to change computers 3 times per year we will help you out with the licensing.

Nope no way around it. Wish there was. When I bought the skytrak there was no policy set up yet. Then they came up with a way to stick you up yearly if you wanna play any Sim.

Yep, awesome weather yesterday for sure and it was awesome to get out👍🏻. As expected though pace of play was terrible. As is Michigan though, it changes quickly, 29 degree wind chill today and snow flurries. Hoping to get in one more round outside but not looking to good next week so it may be sim only from here on out.

Right on. Pretty sweet being able to smoke venison sticks and golf at the same time while it's doing this crap outside in Michigan!

But you can use the driving range feature of the ST without paying the $99/yr fee?

I have no issues paying the yearly fee as long as the software is continualy improved and updated.
