  • TOTAL NEW GUY.... Will my laptop work, if not what will?

Brand spankin' new to the site gentlemen so please go easy. I will be posting a lot as I get into this but if I can please get some input on whether or not my current laptop will run the set up I am planning on. I am planning on getting a Skytrak and running TGC software.

Below is a screenshot of the specs on my laptop. I know that the GTX 1060 is recommended as a graphics card. What I don't know is how other cards rate in comparison.

From what I can see it appears I have an Intell HD 4400? Is that correct or am I looking at the wrong thing? Sorry I am not s computer guy. I'm a gadget guy but I don't know the technical spec stuff. Anyway, if my laptop is not looking good to run Skytrak & TGC can someone comment on the computer that is on sale currently at Costco here:

My gut tells me to get a desktop PC instead since it can be configured the way I want it and upgraded in the future.... would you guys generally agree with that? If the answer is yes, I found the following (also through Costco) where you can basically build out a desktop PC with any specs you want.

Seems like a good idea but of course I have no idea what I am doing?

I don't want to write and excessively long post here so I will leave it at that. In summary, will my current laptop do a good job or if it will not (my favorite thing to say to people that know more than me....) "What would you do if you were in my shoes?"

Thanks in advance guys... appreciate your time and input... can't wait to get everything set up... WINTER IS HERE!

I'll throw one more option in the mix... after doing some more research I came across this option:

Seems pretty stout for the purposes of running Skytrak & TGC... I think.

    * BTW, in case you are wondering why I am shopping Costco. I have the Costco credit card so I get a 4% rebate on the purchase price and a 4 year warranty for no extra cost so would like to find something that works at Costco is possible but not necessarily 100% set on it if there was a great deal elsewhere or building a PC was the way to go.

I’m new also and building my simulator piece by piece. My gaming pc is on its way and is a desktop. I felt this was the best option and this will be dedicated strictly for my simulator. It will be easy to upgrade as needed. The acer predator looks like the best option. I will be getting TGC 2 but nobody knows what specs are going to be recommend for your pc. I understand sometime in February we might get an update on TCG2.
