  • Computer for garage build - TGC

I am new to this site, but have probably read over 3 hours of forums trying to decide the best setup for my new garage build. I would like some reassurance from the more knowledgable members because I don't know very much! Going with a Skytrak and TGC, I am starting out in my garage so I will have an HDTV connected to a laptop/desktop to begin and not a fancy projector. This is where I need the help... which computer is the best value for TGC, while displaying the best visuals on an HDTV? I have read through countless forums saying the GTX 1060 is the way to go, but if I am only connecting through HDMI to a TV is this necessary? Is the GTX 1050ti much worse? The price gap between those two graphics cards is pretty steep. I have narrowed a few options down but would like some feedback on what users are currently using/would recommend a starter like myself use. This computer would only be used to run the simulation software and that is all. Thank you in advance for your time and help!

Nvidia just released the new GTX series so I'm sure all Graphics cards should be getting cheaper. This would be a great time to get a used GTX 1070 or 1080 off ebay. You still need at least the minimum recommended graphics card(1060) to play TGC I would think no matter on HDTV or projector. I would spend the money now on the higher end card myself just to be safe and one less concern.

Yes the 1050ti is that much worse. It's actually worse than the old 970 that is "recommended" in the specs.

brand new EVGA (good equipment, incredible service and warranty) 1060s are around $300, whereas as 1050tis can be $180. It's worth it to bite the bullet and get the 1060, you WILL notice graphics.

Wait till Black Friday if you can. There should be brand new 1060s, 1070s, etc for probably $100 off what they’re going for now.
