Bluetooth extension - necessary?

My pc will sit 6-8ish feet from my GC2. It already connects to the gc2 fine via Bluetooth.

Dumb question but do I need an extension and dongle? I don’t get it.

Some of us new users are having disconnection problems and we don't know if it's going to be solved with the Dongle or not. There just would be a stoppage of reading the club but when you checked connection status it would still say connected

Why don't you guys just get a mini usb to USB cable and call it a day. People.using all kinds of devices have trouble using Bluetooth connectivity mainly due to the unpredictable effect of RF interference.

CG2 doesn’t have a direct connect option to play simulator golf. Makes no sense to me.

I bought the dongle recommended in the sticky in the Foresight section: Asus USB-BT400 Bluetooth 4.0

It often disconnected until I added a 6ft USB extension. Now it sits on the floor a couple of feet from my GC2 and never drops out.

If you’re having disconnection problems, either move your PC closer to your GC2 (or vice versa) or spend a very little amount of money on a dongle / extension cable. Simple fix.

Unless I'm missing something what do you think the female mini usb connector, right above the power input, on the side of the GC2 is for?

You can use that with foresight’s software but not with any other unofficial simulation software. Basically they left the Bluetooth channel open and guys like TGC and others just listen in on it.

You seem to be a little condescending, your a genius to point that out. However your not. These are legitimate questions and comments, but you seem to take offense to them. Do you know when the simulator only offers Bluetooth connection, that is the connection you have to use. If the fix that you are proposing worked, I’m sure everyone on this forum would give this for advice. It sure would be an easy fix.

The GC2 was designed exclusively for use with Foresight’s own software. Old versions of FR1 connected by USB, and the Foresight Performance iPad app connected by Bluetooth.
As above - 3rd party software are able to ‘listen’ The the Bluetooth output and use it to input a shot into their software. The GCQ has never had the Bluetooth unlocked for this reason.

You can still use the GC2 with FR1 and FSX by USB should you desire - but again, the USB port can only be used by Foresight software.
Most people use Bluetooth for convenience.

Yeah, Im going to get it. I just didn't understand it was a Bluetooth issue since it says connected still in GSX after lack of registering shots suddenly.

Honestly... pay about $15 and get the ASUS Bluetooth adaptor I mention above and a $2 USB extension cable from eBay. Put the dongle within a couple of feet of your GC2, and you won’t have an issue.

Also - FSX2018 lets you reconnect during play (which FSX never) so it’s not such an issue when you realise it’s not connected!

I agree with p3eps - I was battling with disconnection issues, and also was trying to avoid having a cable lying across the floor, but having bitten the bullet and added a USB cable to mean that my dongle is a few inches away from the GC2 it has solved a lot of the issues I was having. One of the cheapest fixes in the sim world
