New Computer for FSX 2018 - debating graphics card

I am getting a new computer to run Foresight Sports FSX 2018. I am debating between GTX 1080 ti and RTX 2070. I know the RTX is the latest and greatest, but the GTX appears to be faster. Any thoughts?

I think it will be some time for the benefits of the 2070 feature set will be in FSX so you would be better off with the 1080 ti. Other can chime in but that is my understanding

That is my thinking. The 1080 Ti looks like an awesome card.

Is there much difference between the 1070 and 1080TI ???

I'm running the 1070 and I really think it could be better but before I consider the $$$$ I'd like to know.

Also, other then the suggested changes form Foresight for video card setup, did you tweak any other settings ???

I am just now upgrading to FSX 2018 and the minimum is 1060 Ti - important part is the Ti. 1080 is then the premium or upgrade. I found a 1080 Ti which is even better than 1080.

I run my 1070 with defaults and Full Graphics. I will occasionally get some studdering but for the most part it runs fine. The studdering usually occurs when I'm recording or using high-res cameras and pretty much only happens around the green or putting. It's so infrequent it doesn't bother me much. If you are running fine with a 1070 then you should be good. Upgrading isn't going to make it look any different. It could impact how smooth the playback is. In other words if I was to upgrade it might eliminate my occasional studdering.

A 1080 ti is a way more powerful card but the game you are playing plays into this as well. A 1080 ti requires much more power as well so be sure you PSU can support it before buying otherwise you'll have another expense you didn't plan on. Aren't computers fun!

btw, I'm running 4K (UHD) so I would think at 1080p it would be smooth as silk on a 1070

Running a 1080ti with fsx2018, have connected 3 monitors, 1 projector , 1 VR headset, no issues. Should be some bargains around with 2080ti released.

Personally - for golf sim use (especially through most projectors onto most screens) - I think both are way more than you'll need. If you want you could save money and highly doubt you would notice the difference with a 1070 or even 1060.

Now if there are other, more graphic intense games you plane to play as well, than that's another story.

I am also upgrading my computer. I spoke to Foresight and they do not recommend the RTX yet. As above minimum is the 1060. Their tech guy told me GTX 1080 is optimal for future-proofing. However, big price differential between the GTX 1070 and 1080.

Also, on a different note, what kind of deals are people getting when trading in FR1 for FSX 2018?
