  • TGC and Skytrak feng shui

I have a Skytrak set up in my garage. I bought a 10 x10 x10 net that I installed on cables that I can expand and contract easily. The net is connected to pulleys and has a heavy archery sheet to deaden the blow of the ball. I would like to purchase the TGC software and add a screen. I would replace the archery sheet with the screen. I've never played the software so I have some questions about the set up and location of the hardware

Problem 1. I need to be able to retract my net and screen in a timely manner. The net is no problem now, but does anyone have any ideas on the screen? If I attempt to set up the screen on my current cables, I don't think it will be taught, as the cables have some give. I have them as tight as possible but I keep bending the eye bolts that hang from the ceiling (3/4" stainless steel). I may create a new run of cable from one end of the garage to the other so as to avoid the downward connection via eye bolt, but I'm still not sure I will resolve the cables having some give inward from the weight of the net and screen. Does anyone have a similar set up? My garage is about 25 feet from front to back and still need to get the door open.

Question 2. I understand what I need in computer hardware with the exception of the following.
    a. Will I need a monitor once it is set up? Or can I just use the screen as my monitor?
    b. How often will I need to access the computer once in game play mode? I have a great spot for the computer at the end of the net in the direction I hit the balls. This would require me to walk all the way around the net to access the controls. I see people in the videos walking over to the computer quite often and I'm not sure what they are doing.
    c. If I buy a projector with WiFi will this be sufficient or do you recommend hard wired via HDMI?

I can answer question 2 for you. You can use the impact screen as your monitor. As for having access to the computer you will need to have access to key board. You can just purchase a little wireless keyboard for that.

Thank you. I see people walking back and forth to the computer on the youtube videos. Is this to check stats or make adjustments during game play? I'm fine setting up game play in the back of the net, but don't want to constantly walk around to make adjustments, or deal with computer to continue game play. In short, once you start a game do you ever need to visit the keyboard or mouse again until after the round?

I find the iPad solution is excellent. There is a solution using AirKeyboard that you install on your computer and on your iPad and then there is a dedicated screen layout with all the functions you need to play TGC (as well as another one for FSX2018). I believe Mike80 developed the first one and then Aeroburner developed a revision with a mouse pad area on the iPad layout which is really useful. I think a few people are offering to do updates or TGC2019. Highly recommended and it would help the OP not need to go back to the computer after starting a round.
