  • Laptop or PC converted to wireless network?

I have previously posted my dilemma. My sim is on the 2nd floor of my barn about 150 feet from my home (router). Went cheap initially on computer budget last year. Bought ASUS TUF laptop i5, gtx 1050 for 750$ As a result slow load up, system runs choppy and cannot max graphics. I plan on upgrading ASAP

    1) Should I just buy laptop, (I understand more expensive) if so, any recommendations for fast load and ability to max graphics

    2) If I buy PC, will a wifi adapter or TP-Link PCl-e work to convert to wireless network from distance to my home (router)

Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated, I am not tech savvy

I would buy a desktop PC. If you look diligently on the used market you can find one with plenty of cpu and RAM to run simulation software. Most important item is graphics adapter. You need to pay attention to the power needs of graphics card you want and make sure system has large enough power supply and proper connectors. I bought a HP Z420 workstation with 16GB of RAM, Win 10, 500 GB hard drive for $187. Workstation class machines have decent enough power supplies but always check the specs. I then bought a new Nvidia Geoforce 1060 graphics card with 8GB of DDRAM and plugged it in. I paid more for graphics card than I did for PC (thanks crypto currency mining). It runs SIM software very well with smooth graphics in 16x10 resolution to my Benq projector. Game start up is ok and I can always improve that by converting to a solid state hard drive at reasonable cost. I use a usb wireless network adapter to connect to my wireless network and a USB bluetooth adapter for connecting to launch monitor (GC2).
