  • Need help with a computer to run TCG 2019

On the final step of my build and need to find a computer to run TCG 2019.

My plan is to only use this computer to run my golf simulator programs.

Following the Required Specs on the Skytrak website for TGC2019, it looks like I could pick something up fairly cheap from Newegg:

    https://www.newegg.com/abs-computer-...82E16883102793
    • Ryzen 5 1st Gen 1600 (3.20GHz)
    • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 3GB
    • 8GB DDR4
    • 512GB SSD
    • Windows 10 Home 64-bit
    • Gaming Keyboard & Mouse
    • $579 total
I am okay spending more money, but since it will be a dedicated sim computer, I am looking for what gets the job done. If paying more will give a better experience (better graphics, load times, etc then I would want to pay more money for that computer)

For example I looked through some previous posts and this computer was recommended:
    HP Omen Obelisk.
    • Windows 10 Home 64
    • AMD Ryzen™ 5 2500X
    • NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1660 6 GB
    • 8 GB memory; 1 TB HDD storage
    • But at $900
Is this way more than I really need?

Advice or other computer suggestions are greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Thanks

Are you budget limited? Are you able to assemble a pc?

No, I am not on a tight budget.  Was just trying to find best deal.  I am willing to spend money if I am buying a good product.

I have never built a PC before and find it a bit intimidating.  I would prefer to buy something I can just plug and play, but with good instructions/videos I am sure I could figure it out if it is a much better option to build yourself.

Do you have a frys or micro center near you?

If I were to follow one of the guides through the link you suggested, which would you recommend?

If I decide against building my own, any recommendations on computers?

Thanks for your info and time on this

Built one with my kid for the first time and couldn’t believe how simple it was. Lots of videos on how to do it.

Watching some videos on this, I agree it looks fairly straight forward. The most confusing part is knowing what components are needed and to make sure they all are compatible.

I like to buy computers that last at least 4 years, set a good budget for the PC.

I just picked up an Alienware off dell for under 1500 on sale from about 1900. It is way overkill but imagine it’ll last some time. Might be worth a shot to look at those.

Really it comes down to how future proof do you want your computer to be?

Right now, as far as pure computing power as well as top of the line tech, AMD has intel beaten in its CPU area. 3rd gen Ryzen chips and compatible mother boards are pci3 gen4 capable, and have more pci express lanes available, over intel. Additionally, they are benchmarking faster when compared to intel's. And they are cheaper.

As far as graphics cards, for TGC 2019 this will be your biggest source of where you spend your money. My opinion is that if you ever have any inkling that you want to 4K game you cannot go with anything less than a GTX 1080Ti or a RTX 2070 from Nvidia.

You would have to step up to an AMD 5700XT to be able to 4K Game.

After all this you would likely want to employ some sort of aftermarket cooling solution for your processor, although AMD does a pretty fair job with their stock cooler. I would suggest a good AIO of at least 240mm, or you can't go wrong with a Noctua DH-15 air cooler.

If you want, message me and I'll throw together some systems for you at different price points based on your preferences.

          ^^^ this

But before you install OS make sure you test with Memtest86+ first - leave it run for 24hrs and if you get any errors come back on here with a screenshot (take on phone)

You can find it online, Google "Ultimate Boot CD" .

I got bored and priced out 3 systems. 2 which would be 4K capable, and one that would be a more budget friendly build. Click image for larger version
