  • gifted a pc and trying to see if it can run skytrak and E6

I am completely uneducated on computers, but think I have enough info to share that I'm hoping you all can help me figure out if the pc I have is good enough to run my sim on. From what my little knowledge on checking the computer system I found that it has - i7 (whatever that means?), 8 GB ram, Windows 7, Processor is Intel core i7-3770 cpu @ 3.40 ghz 3401mhz 4 cores - 8 logical, GPU is Nividia Geforce gtx 650, 361gb free space. That is about all I know to look for. Is this computer capable or would I be better off getting a new one?

    Thanks for any help!

OK, so the answer is yes and no... Yes, it will be able to run just Skytrak by itself and its sim software (however if and when they upgrade the software with better graphics, I am willing to bet that is not going to cut it). E6... Definitely not.

That processor is like 7 years old... I had a 3220 in my other machine and it just barely ran Skytrak and really struggles with simple tasks... Go get a new one. GPU for E6 should likely be an RTX-2060 or better. An AMD 5700 or 5700XT will also work just fine for 1080p gaming.

If you know someone that can build a PC for you, you might be better off. I built my own and have roughly $1000 in it.
List of Components are as follows:
      CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6 core 3.6Ghz (4.2 Ghz MAX)
MOBO: MSI Gaming Pro Carbon B450
      Ram: 16gb GSkill Tridentz 3200 DDR4
      SSD Samsung 970 EVO 1TB M.2 socket
Graphics card: Nvidia GTX1660 XC Black
      Rosewill Gaming Case
      Corsair 750W power supply
      Windows 10 PRO

This system has been one of my best "Budget" builds yet and runs every game I throw at it with out problems.

      Just something to think about!
      Hope this helps.

Thanks for the replies! I was hoping I could get by using this gifted computer to save some money, but I don't want to have to battle getting things running. I think I'm going to bite the bullet and get this one.

So thanks for the replies. For the record I went with this computer. Alienware M15-15.6" FHD Gaming Laptop Thin and Light, i7-8750H Processor, NVIDIA GeForce Graphics Card, 16GB RAM, 1TB Hybrid HDD + 128GB SSD, 17.9mm Thick & 4.78lbs

I hope that I chose the correct one with the suggestions here. I got it for just under $1100 which from my limited knowledge it seemed like a good price

You will be OK to run Skytrak and likely E6, but not on max detail. a 1060 gpu is a little bit light on the capabilities. Either way, you will be fine. Stick with 1080p for them and you should be able to turn up the details to at least medium, likely high.
        Working...
