  • Looking to put a dedicated gaming pc for my TGC 2019 skytrak - need opinions

I put TGC 2019 on my laptop which barely met spec for TGC2019. Needless to say it’s unbearable.

it lags, it freezes and you can barely get a hole complete before it’s time to reboot and kick out your guest players.

being in a budget at the moment, please let me know which of the three options you would choose as I am getting a very good deal on all 3 options below:

    1. Intel I7 2600 Processor
Nvidia Zotac GTX 1050ti OC Edition GPU
    500gb Hard Drive
    120gb Solid State Drive
    8gb DDR3 Ram
    WiFi
    Windows 10 Activated

    2. I7 2600
    11gb ram
    GTX 970 Zotac
    256gb HDD
    500w power supply
    +$30 to add 500gb

    3. hp z400, single xeon x5660 6-cores 12-threads cpu, 12 gb, 500gb 970 gtx,

are any much better than the other and do any risk not playing TGC 2019 to its full potential?

They recommend a GTX 1060. A PC with a RX 580 is comparable and cheaper.

I meant that a PC with a RX580 would be cheaper than a PC with a GTX 1060.

I can't speak to whether those you mentioned will be sufficient. They meet the minimum spec, but are lower than the recommended spec. The 970 GTX is better than the 1050Ti.

My sim runs well with a HP z420 workstation I picked up on eBay for under $300. Workstation class machines have great tower cases and are easy to work on various components. I replaced graphics card with a EVGA GTX 1070. If you go this route research power supply size (Watts) and connectors (6 pin / 8 pin) needed for the graphics card you want. There are adapters for various connectors but they can create a unreliable system. As many have said, graphics card is most important for sim software use. Pay attention to amount of DDR ram on various cards. Mine has 8gb. I spent more $ on my graphics card change than I did on the rest of the system.

              Hmmmm ... why none?

mmcfadden- thank you for you reply. I have read on other threads that they are built pretty solid and reliable.

My understanding is that the recommended settings for TCG 2019 is:

              8gb of RAM
              i7 processor
              1060 graphics card

Why would skeetshooter tell me that none of the above mentioned systems would run the software well?wbzt am I missing?

The graphics cards on your options are lower performing than the 1060 graphics card that is recommended. GTX 1060 > GTX 970 > GTX 1050i.

DrStrangelove is correct. All of your proposed configurations are below minimum spec for TGC2019... Search some of my posts. You will see I'm quite involved with providing advice regarding optimal setups. There is currently a very good deal on an HP. https://www.walmart.com/ip/HP-Pavili...gaArG1EALw_wcB

I would spend the money and get that since you said you are on a budget. That will perform well for you at a very reasonable pricepoint

Thank you all for your help.
seeing as you guys have been around a lot longer than I, I have taken your advise and pulled the trigger on a laptop (I personally wanted a laptop over the pc anyways).

I really would think about buying systems that are about 9-10 years old. If they will be too slow, it's difficult to improve them. In general they do not have only slower CPUs but also the chipset has less performance.
Below is a let's say "good working system" with high quality products. One year ago I build it like this and it works pretty fine using Skytrak,TGC2019, 4K-Monitor and 1920x1080 Beamer (Optoma 1080). The only difference was that I could get a GTX1070 for low money.

If you share the difference of about 350 Euro to 10 years, it is 35 Euro per year, and you can be sure that it runs as you expect.

                Motherboard 100 Euro
                Intel i5-9600 220 Euro
                CpU FAN silent 30 Euro
                Memory 16GB 80 Euro
                SSD 250GB 40 Euro
                Case 60 Euro
                Power Supply 60 Euro
                Nvidia GTX 1060, 6GB 180 Euro

                about 770 Euro

Alternatively an AMD Ryzen 5 or 7 System and a RX580 as already mentioned.

Congratulations, you are going to love it! I run TGC 2019 on a Razor gaming laptop with similar specs (GTX 1060) and runs the game on the highest settings without issue. Happy golfing
