  • Mac Pro 2019 work with Foresight FSX2020? (AMD Pro Vega II 32GB?), Sim-in-a-box

    Hi,
My profession is in the creative spaces (filmmaker/photographer) and as a result I have high end computer equipment already but all Mac based (haven't been on a PC in 15+ years). I'm purchasing a Sim-in-a-box with a GCquad (eagle edition from Costco), but as I understand it the computer spec is pretty low. Does anyone run their sim software through a Mac using something like Parallels or bootcamp? I'd prefer to run a virtual machine as opposed to having to reboot the machine (bootcamp) to run the sim software since my Mac actually sits in another room (sits in an office above my garage - sim will be set-up in the garage). My Mac Pro graphics card is AMD so that's a concern; albeit extremely high end one

    My Mac Pro 2019 build:
    • Processor: 3.2Ghz 16-core Intel Xeon W
    • Memory: 192GB ram
    • Graphics: AMD Radeon Pro Vega II 32GB. (currently running 6K, 5K and 4K monitors simultaneously. but it can handle another 4K projector and TV)
    • HD: 2TB SSD

If my Mac Pro is a no-go, what spec do you recommend to smoothly run FSX2020, e6, TPC at full res in 4K? I don't want to spend more than I have to if I'm buying a new machine.
I believe the spec of the PC coming with the sim-in-a-box is. Is it worth just upgrading the graphics card in the supplied machine?
    • i5 processor
    • 8GB ram
    • nvidia 1050 or 1060 graphics
    My Goal:
    • Run Simulator software at full frame rates @ 4K (down the road when I get a 4K Projector): FSX2000, E6 and hopefully TCG2019.
    • Computer connected to 4K projector and 4K TV (as display on side)
    • Use Mac Pro if possible or else upgrade the necessary parts of the supplied computer.
    • Other option is to sell the supplied PC from foresight and buy a gaming specific computer - $1200-1500 Max is what I'd be willing to spend.
    Thanks!

I can't give you exact confirmation that this will work, but I believe if you run Bootcamp you should be able to run the foresight software. My best suggestion though, is to double check with their sales people and ask them if that will work. If not. I think you could easily build a computer now a days around the $1500 pricepoint that can run that config, especially since the new RTX cards are dropping this month and the 3070 in October. My preference for you is to check with the foresight crew and then go from there... no sense spending extra money you don't need to.

Foresight does say AMD not compatible, but I bet if you reach out to them and tell them exactly what you are working with they can give you a more tailored response.
