    monitor and connections

First off wondering if it matters what type of monitor to get. I am getting a tower and planned on using a projector but would like a monitor as well. Do you need a gaming monitor or do you just determine the size you want and it will be fine.
Second questions is (this also is important to know if i need a monitor with 2 hdmi outs) how do you project on both monitor and projector when running this through a receiver. Do you use a splitter. Where you would split line in would go into the receiver and the split hdmi out one would go to the projector and one would go to the monitor. --- would i need to hdmi port on the monitor. On for the computer going in and one for the out going to the splitter/receiver. Or do you use a different connection going from computer to monitor and then just hdmi out..

Sorry can’t answer the questions on connections post receiver but wonder why you would not just send the signal from your computer straight to your monitors (or perhaps one with Audio and video through receiver and the other through your computer directly (this way your video card will manage everything going to each monitor).

in terms of monitor, I think the question is size (based on my thoughts above). Also the only other question to ask is if you want a touch screen or not.

good luck and hope someone can give you a more specific response.

Thanks Dax. I guess that is why I ask I am not really sure what I am doing perhaps what you suggest would work better. I do like to watch TV, firestick ect on the big screen and want the speaker to work for movie set up. So I guess i am a bit confused with your response as to if I need to change this set up thanks in advance. I am good not having touch screen. But I did see some monitors have speaker did not think i need that with the receiver but maybe I do.

I hope someone might have a better response than what I provided. Just wonder if a monitor with pip might help your situation as it would allow you to have two inputs going into the projector.

      1) do you need a gaming monitor ?

if your only use is playing golf sim, definitely not. I have a $150 32” TCL TV for my second monitor and it works for everything I’ve thrown at it. Built in Netflix and others is a small additional plus. (Deal: TCL 32S327 32-Inch 1080p ROKU Smart LED TV (2018 Model) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07F981R8M...ing=UTF8&psc=1)

      2) how to connect 2 displays through receiver :

You don’t want to use a splitter or your only choice is to watch the exact same thing on both monitors. Instead you want 2 separate HDMI connections to the projector & monitor (then you can benefit from 2 separate screens and places for displaying content — golf sim on main screen, movie on TV, etc). The main reason I can think of to use a receiver would be for external speakers. If that’s the case, I’d say you go from computer to receiver to projector as one path, and from computer direct to second monitor as second path.

Because your source is a computer in both cases , you shouldn’t need a steaming stick. You just load up the site on a browser and then drag that window to either the projector or Monitor screen based on your preference.

happy to answer more questions if that wasn’t clear.
