  • Computer for Sim

Found this pre build after bashing my head for a while trying to build something

Newegg is proud to offer Canada the best prices, fast shipping and top-rated customer service for Computer Parts, Laptops, Electronics and more!

I can't even build this or anything compariable at that price.

Spec wise hows this look to run the golf club? From what I can gather should be able to run it at max setting with no problem but I'm not a tech guy so it's a guess based on a poor understanding of computers and gaming lol. Projector is mid range 1080p so no worries about 4k.

It is... however I wouldnt spend $1,100 on something that is that outdated as far as a GPU... What is your budget?

That's about maxed out. I tried building something, but I couldn't get near that price with even the same GPU. I could upgrade it later I suppose.

the reason I ask is there are other options for a little bit more:

Yesh I'm in Canada, Once I apply shipping and exchange to that set up I'm double the price so out of budget.

GPU is an easy upgrade for sure. Don't discount checking out Lenovo Canada or Dell.ca as well. They have some great deals there pretty often. What software are you planning?

TGC with a mevo+. I checked out dell but the GPU's for comparable prices were worse then this one but I'll keep an eye out. I'll be sure to keep the specs for this then in case i want to upgrade the GPU in the future.

I've been going back and forth with the budget for a while, looking at Uneekor and better PC's and all sorts of stuff. I kind of finally decided. Keep the budget down... get something up and running then if you want you can upgrade things over time... but I want to make sure the experience will be, maybe not flawless.... but fun and playalbe so I can decide what things have irritating me the most so I can focus my upgrades.

I figure I can resell sims without much of a loss and go through projectors and PC upgrades and the rest as needed, but the base cost will be dealt with.

Jasonreg, i'm planning on using fsx2020 and get tgc2019. As a fellow quad owner, what do you think about this laptop? is it not enough? more than enough, or just about right? Always good to get second opinion on things, as i'm a noob when it comes to technology lol

Yes it’s enough horsepower but just remember laptops are not easily configurable for changes down the road. Like if you want 2 high speed cameras something in the range you can get at Swing Catalyst it’s nearly impossible to run on laptops. They are purpose built and lock you in for the lifetime of the component.

Unfortunately, I agree that it would be tough to build something for that price given a 2060 super is about $150 to $175 more expensive. I suspect the lowest you could build out that computer you found would be about $1250 to $1300 and with a 2060 super you are likely looking at Cdn$1500 and going with a 3060 you are likely another $100 on top of that. My only thought is to price something out with your own build, but buy a second hand graphics card as this could get you in the Cdn$1,300 range.

Sixmudd - That should be fine though I am not as familiar with any possible limitations on a mobile version of the graphics card vs a desktop version. For my money - unless you need the portability (i.e. garage or movable setup) or you need the laptop to do double duty - I always recommend a desktop version. You just seem to be able to get more for your money that way (but not always!).

Slydermv - it is a great plan to get going managing your initial costs. Once you are up and running you can decide in which area you want to spend a little more upgrade-wise. And as I mentioned, the GPU is a pretty basic upgrade assuming you stay away from multiple cards etc. which might tax your PSU. Just be aware that the min specs are as of today - no telling what the next version of TGC may ask for but again, you can cross that bridge then. Enjoy.

Yes I get that. I think what I have here is above the recommend spec for TGC to run at 1080 p so as long as I'm there I'm good.
        Working...
