I just had a new custom gaming computer with a 3080 Ti GPU built to handle the higher processing load of FSX Play. It replaces an Omni HP Obelisk computer that had a 2080 Ti. I've been using FSX 2020 since it was released and FSX Play as soon as it was released.
In both cases the audio is via an optical out to a Yamaha SR-C20A soundbar. With the old HP computer everything worked fine. With the new custom gaming PC with an optical port on the motherboard, the sound still works but now there is a new issue. When the ball impacts the ground on the screen, the sound of the ball's impact is delayed by about 1 second.
I've tried everything I can think of with drivers, BIOS settings, even putting in a new sound card to use instead of the onboard optical port. Audio from anything else like a YouTube video is synced just fine with the video... it's just in FSX 2020 that there is this latency. The only other variable is that it is a new install of the Foresight software on the new computer so something might be different in their software, but I've worked through Foresight support and they say it's not their problem. To their credit, if I run the sound out to something else like the audio speaker on the projector or the speakers in the monitor, the sync problem does not happen. It's only with the optical out to the soundbar and it only happens with the FSX software.
If anyone has experienced this kind of audio to video latency I'd love to know if you fixed it and if so how you did it.
Thanks!
Steve
