  • Already settled on RTX 3080 - But what processor to get?

    Hi Everyone,

Thanks for entertaining multiple questions from me over the last few weeks, but finally getting ready to order all my components within the next 1-2 weeks.

This question on Gaming PCs. I'm already settled on getting a pre-built Desktop that has an RTX 3080 but the question is, which processor to get, and how much does it matter?

Say, between either Intel or AMD? or an i7 vs. i9?

Also, question on amount of RAM... I don't know if more is always necessarily better (if there are diminishing returns). Is 16 GB enough? or should I aim for 32 GB or 64 GB RAM?

    Thanks!

I think AMD is the best value gaming processor. 16 GB should be enough, but get them in two modules so you can expand later.

I built my PC with the I7 because I had read that Uneekor for example is not compatible with AMD....so be aware of the sensor and software you are planning to use and make sure it's compatible...

My Uneekor is compatible with my AMD 5700x. Any processor produced in the last couple of years should be fine. Now, the AMD graphics card is a different story.

Check the system requirements for the software/launch monitor you are using. Both Foresight and Skytrak say Intel processors only.

Google “RTX 3080 and xxxx bottleneck”. As you try different processors it will tell you how well they work together.
