    Figuring out what specs for my SIM computer

    I'm going to be buying a GC3 FXS 2020 and FSX Play in next couple months and I'm trying to figure out if I need to upgrade the computer I plan to use in my SIM. The specs of desktop I wanted to is CPU:i7-6700k or i7-8700k, GPU: GTX 1080, 32 GB RAM. Was curious if anybody has tried running this and what kind of frame rate you get.

      The specs posted by Foresight indicate this PC will not suffice, it is quite under powered. In addition the CPU/GPU bottleneck would be pretty severe (23%), in this case nearly a fourth of your GPU would not be utilized. FSX requires a 3060 GPU and 7th gen processor, FSX is a very demanding software. I was able to score a rig with a 3080TI GPU and 11700k for $1500 so there are good deals out there if you are diligent. The end of the month could lead to some big savings

          Where did you purchase a tower with a 3080TI GPU with Intel processors for $1,500.00? Was it used? That is about half the price I have seen them for from Lenovo, etc.

            I got it direct from HP and it was brand new. Even came with a free headset. Keep an eye on the manufacturer sites, use coupon codes, etc

              Okay thanks for the information. If I were to use the 8700k which is slightly above their minimum specs. Think I should pair it with a 3060 ti or 3070? I already have the 8700k sitting around so using that would be great. I'm probably going for 1080p.

                  it appears the 8700k will also limit the GPU by about 24%. So not sure if that would be a good idea. Also there are other factors such as cooling, power supply etc
