  • How to Stream PC (in other location) to Garage

I have seen other posts (https://golfsimulatorforum.com/forum...fice-to-garage) and just don't understand how this works.

Some have suggested NVidia Gamestream, which look like will not be updated or not going to be made anymore.

Can someone explain to me exactly how this works in excruciating detail--if a computer is in the house and to stream it to the garage/projector?

How to you connect the unit (GC2) to the PC in a different room/building? What is the best to stream? Does the projector needs special settings (i.e. internal wifi capability)?

I can't give you excruciating detail but here is another older thread to look at: https://golfsimulatorforum.com/forum...-two-locations

In my case, I've used KVM over ethernet with a gaming PC in an upstairs office and the sim in the garage. You attach a KVM transmitter to the computer upstairs by USB and HDMI and then attach the other side to the direct line ethernet cable. The other side of the direct line attaches to the KVM receiver in the garage. The KVM receiver then connects to an HDMI and USB. I attach the USB on this end to a keyboard and mouse and then the HDMI is output (duplicate image) to a TV and a projector. I sometimes attach my Skytrak to the USB as well but am OK just using wireless. This works for me with no lag (as if the PC was in the garage) but it is still a little complicated (and if you haven't heard about KVMs before this probably isn't for you), the KVM set I used was maybe $250 (now $100), and it can't handle 4K. For certain, using a gaming laptop in the garage would be a lot easier. Here is the link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Thank you. That was very helpful. Does that mean that you bring in and out your skytrac everytime?

I keep the Skytrak in the garage on a shelf and bring it down everytime and then have to align it before use. We have a Fibrebuilt 4 by 7 hitting mat (with 1 foot strip, 4 feet on the stance side and 2 feet on the Skytrak side ) and then a relatively standard Home Depot putting rug over gym mat setup for the landing area and just park on the mats when the sim is not in use.

Instead of KVM as noted above I've switched to using Sunshine/Moonlight for remote access in my garage to the gaming PC in my home office running the simulator software. I had to switch from the KVM as the direct ethernet cable no longer works and it would have been tricky to replace/fix. My gaming PC in the office runs Sunshine and my non-gaming laptop runs Moonlight in the garage and connects to the projector. Sunshine/Moonlight works just as well for me as the KVM now that it is set up. I have an extra non-gaming PC laptop so I haven't tried Moonlight on anything else but understand you can even use Moonlight on Chromebooks, iPads etc. Allegedly, Steamlink will do the same thing but I haven't tried that.
