  • How's this computer stack up?

Been browsing lazily for a computer for future software choice for my qed sim. Not interested in 4k so it's just 1080.Although having the ability for 4k in future may be a plus if I change mind. What do you think of this deal? I'm in no hurry, been using my wife's computer, but that comes with "complications"! Leaning toward gs pro.Thanx

I looked at that one. No 4K you will be fine. Make sure memory and hard drive are sufficient but the chip and GRU will run at 1080p, no problem. I wound up building my own using pcpartspicker.com It was simpler that i thought and I saved about $500. I got a 4K projector and GRU, but if I had to do it again I would get 1080p, so I think you are looking at it correctly. I spend most of my time on the range on GSPro working on my swing path and ball striking. I am pretty confident i cant tell the difference between 1080P and 4K, and if I am square at impact and get the ball flight right, I could care less about 4K resolution.

3 things I might check before committing:
      1. I cannot see the PSU rating. This might be your limitation if you want to upgrade your GPU in the future for 4K
      2. I am not sure why the RAM is running at 3200MHz. But that aside, 4 x 8 will be slower than 2 x 16 if that is important to you. Also in order to upgrade RAM in the future you would be scrapping all 4 sticks most likely. That said, 32GB is plenty for GS Pro
      3. 4060 is only 8GB of VRAM. Again fine for now, but the trend these days is more reliance on VRAM on the GPU. I might look for a 4070Ti with 12GB or 4080 if you can manage it with 16GB. Even the 4060Ti (16GB version) might be a better choice for you.
All in though, That system should run GS Pro for a good while - my comments really only center on future-proofing if that is important to you.

Did you end up buying that computer? I just went through the same exercise. I went with a beefier graphics card for 4k. With my previous gaming computer, I saw problems running 4k + the AI from Protee VX. It was too much for the GPU. My requirements are a little different because I usually use the same computer to power a 3rd screen streaming YouTube, or other apps while playing. Also, I use the 3rd screen for cameras on the golf swing.Curious how the 4060 has worked out.

Yes, i bought it. Got sidetracked with a lot of non-golf projects so I've only run the uneekor view software. I purchased gs pro but haven't used it yet.

Brother bought that exact computer from best buy. Running GSPro just fine 1080p. He seems happy.

"I am not sure why the RAM is running at 3200MHz"

Probably because its DDR4, or XMP is not enabled in the bios or its cheap ram.
They usually skimp on RAM and MOTHERBOARD to keep their profits as high as possible as most people will not tell the difference.

That makes sense. Thanks for posting that.
