  • Newer NVIDIA graphics card

I’m in the process of setting up my garage build, I will be using the bushnell launch pro and plan on eventually purchasing GSPro as well. I can see on the requirements page that the older nvidia quadro cards will not work for FSX/GSPro, but I’m curious if the newer Ada generation cards would work.

Examples would be the RTX 3500 Ada / RTX 4000 Ada. Thanks!

It is an interesting question and depends on what you are trying to achieve. I am certainly no expert but I have been researching GPUs a bit lately. Here is an interesting article for you: NVIDIA RTX 4000 Ada Lovelace GPU Roughly Equivalent to GeForce RTX 3060 Ti, Consumes 65% Less Power | TechPowerUp

My take, especially with the latest FSX Play course design issues, the extra VRAM on the RTX4000 ADA may well help. However, with the direct comparison above of an RTX3060Ti, it suggests that the card may struggle at 4K. 1080P however may be quite satisfactory. All said though, these are expensive cards and I do not immediately see the advantage of spending $1600+ on the 4000 vs the same spent on an RTX4090 (or $3-400 less for an RTX4080/4080Super).

    My two cents.

Well there may be a chance i can get one from my work, which would save me from buying a dedicated sim computer. I just wasn’t sure if these chips were different than the Quadro GPUs that specifically stated won’t work from FSXs webpage. (I have read the article you linked previously). This is way out of my wheelhouse and don’t know the differences between the Quadro and newer ADA cards - I “think” the newer ADA cards have a video out, which I do not think the Quadro cards had.

I’m planing on 1080 for now, 4k really isn’t in the budget right now.

You have to be super careful simply swapping out graphics cards. At the heart of every computer you have BUS systems. Think of these as the internal plumbing that shuffles the data around. If you have an older motherboard sure it could accept a newer modern card, but the BUS speeds on the board might not help you take full advantage of the new card. Same goes for upgrading a CPU or even sticking in more memory.

PC's are not simply a collection of parts all of the parts must be optimized and play nicely together to work optimally.

Yes I understand that, I have an opportunity to purchase a dell workstation laptop through my work, it has an i9 and these ADA generation graphic cards. They are designed with the ADA generation cards in mind, I just wasn’t sure if they can/would work with the Launch Pro.
