  • Computer check for system upgrade…

Currently using WGT through Apple TV. SkyTrak. I have an Optoma GT2100 1080p projector, need to use 4:3 aspect ratio. Looking to possibly upgrade to TGC2019 or GSPro. Would the following computer be sufficient?

FUNYET Mini Gaming PC, Intel I7-9750H 6 Cores 12 Threads Processors, Nvidia GTX 1050 3G Mini PC, 32GB RAM 1TB SSD RGB Light Mini Desktop Computer, Support RJ45/2.4G/5.0G WiFi 5/HDMI Windows 11 Pro

This question was also posted as part of my monitor questions, but more fitting here, so sorry for the dupe.

    thanks in advance!!!

I would strongly recommend looking for something more powerful. Caveat: I have not used these mini-PCs before and they might be crazy efficient, but just because someone named it a "gaming PC" does not mean it will run Golf Simulation software well .....

From a quick look at the specs, the CPU is right at the bottom equivalency for FSX Play (stay with me - I know you want TGC or GS Pro). These programs typically do not tax the CPU very hard and you are right at the bottom end for CPU power right out of the gate. UserBenchmark: Intel Core i5-7600 vs i7-9750H. Min recommended GPU for GSPro is GTX 1070 with a recommended RTX 3060ti GPU for great 1080P experience. Your proposed GPU in that mini PC is significantly below the min recommended spec. UserBenchmark: Nvidia GTX 1050 (Mobile) vs 1070.

Will it run GSPro? 'Possibly'? at the lightest installation on low graphics - maybe? But most likely not, and even if it does you will most likely (IMO) not be happy. I do not think it would run TGC at all, and will definitely not run anything from Foresight.

Don't be afraid of the second hand market for a good used gaming rig. Folks are upgrading all the time and you may see some avail on marketplace, or on the site here even.

Costco has had some raging good deals on desktop computers with a 4060 (899) at times. It works well for 1080p. Nvidia also is releasing some super version of its cards with better pricing in some cases. Those systems will be available soon. I think a 4060 super will be perfect for 1080p and a 4070 super will be good for 4k for golf sim. Good luck.
