  • Hoping to Purchase a Gaming Laptop today- Advice Needed

Because of my set up, I need a gaming laptop (as opposed to a desktop) and I am looking at these three options. I'd love it if someone could offer some input into which one of these is the best option or any other advice that may help with the decision. Thanks

You didn't mention if you intend to run full 4k or name the intended software. The software will provide recommended specifications. You can use this tool to help translate between desktop and laptop to see performance differences... UserBenchmark: PC Speed Test Tool - Compare Your PC

It's doubtful that you'd be able to run 4K on any software. In addition, current sim packages are going to max out 16GB of RAM, you'd be way better off trying to find a rig with 32GB. Plan on having lots of airflow, that laptop is gonna get hot.

Though I agree those laptops are lower in spec than ideal, I think it all depends on your expectations. You still have not said which software you are planning but GS Pro would likely run just fine on any of those laptops, though you "may" need to dial down the graphics quality (maybe) if you want to run 4K - 1080P will run just fine. And as long as you are not running any additional software or programs 16GB should work, though as mentioned above 32GB would be ideal if possible and any of those CPUs are fine. Where the laptops really show weakness is in GPU quality and heat management. Any given 30XX or 40XX GPU in a laptop will show lower performance than its desktop equivalent but it varies with only about 10% difference at the 4060 level and above 50% at the 4080 level so remember that and use some of the available on-line tools to check min specs for your use case.

If you give us more details, we can be more helpful.

Thanks Guys! The sole purpose of the gaming computer will be for me to run GSPro. I think 1080 for me is fine. After reading some of the responses here and speaking with a few people, I am going to forgo the laptop and go with a desktop with 32 gb. Thanks for the help and feedback!
