laptop with 4070 16GB OR 4060 32 GB which would be better? for Bushnell LP/FSX play

I'm setting up a practice area/sim area in my backyard which will be partially covered. Because it's outside I don't want to use a desktop and want to use a laptop. My local Costco has both the above laptops for $1000. Would I be better off with a slightly faster GPU or more ram?

You may want to wait for others to chime in also but I would say 32gb ram is going to be required for sure. If its a choice between 32gb ram or 4070 GPU, I think more ram is the way to go.

First of all, I wouldn't recommend a laptop. GPUs in laptops are watered down. If I had to choose between those 2 options I would go with the 4070. Below are the recommendations GSPro provides. Even though the 4060 is a newer card the 3060ti outperforms it.

1. 20GB free space
2. RTX 3060ti GPU
3. 16GB memory

well laptop is far from ideal but like I said, it's going to be outside so not too enthusiastic having a gaming computer living outsid even if the area will be covered

get the laptop with the 4070 with 16gb of ram, 100% GPU > RAM in your situation

Check to be sure, but normally on a laptop RAM can be upgraded for cheap, a graphics card cannot be. If you are set on a laptop, 4070 is the correct purchase. I am using over 16gb of RAM but this is at 4k with a second 1080p TV running.

yeah, I came to the same conclusion. laptop ram is easy to upgrade. the gpu isn't...

I used my gaming computer while I wait for my laptop
Ryzen 7
3080 overclocked
32 GB ram overclocked
FSX Play on 4K I was getting 38 FPS
