  • Trouble with Duplicating Display to Second Screen

I have the SkyTrak and I'm trying to setup my simulator with for new PC software. Currently I'm running an HDMI from my graphics card to a TV which is acting as a secondary screen and just duplicating the primary display. The connection to my primary monitor is DVI. I had it working before I upgraded to windows 10 so that when I turned on the secondary display it would be automatically detected and the audio would go through that device. After the upgrade to windows 10, the secondary screen gets no audio. I see the duplicated picture, but it's a little too big for the actual screen and I am missing the edges, enough that I have to guess where the toolbar apps are.

I have a AMD R9 280X graphics card and I've updated all the drivers.

I'd like to keep this setup, which involves running a 50ft HDMI and a 50ft USB (USB-to-Cat5e-to-USB converter) into my sim room that is in my basement. The PC is in the office, on the floor above. I would like to avoid having to purchase a second PC, as I built this main one with specs for sim use.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hey Kev, this sounds like a Windows 10 issue. They are giving away those free upgrades for a reason... To have folks help workout most of the bugs. Check out Microsofts boards for possible fixes from folks that had the same problem. May be as simple as a settings change and a reboot. Good luck!

I am not sure if you can duplicate sound to the second screen. My understanding is that you have to choose a default device for sound. To do this, right click on the speaker icon. click on playback devices. Choose your desired device and set as default. That should work as long as your tv shows up as a sound device and it should once you have the video showing up there.

BTW windows 10 takes an awful long time for the playback devices to show up. Be patient.
