  • Nvidia Geforce Experience ShadowPlay

Has anyone else tried ShadowPlay? It's a pretty cool DVR feature built into the GTX video cards. I recorded a whole round today. It will break a 35 min video into two smaller videos. See the YouTube results here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N_mj1QhYO5U

To use ShadowPlay, open up Geforce Experience, click on Shadowplay. You will want to change the keyboard shortcuts as they are the same as some of TGC's

Maybe I should have put up a video that didn't have a snowman on #10. I was trying to do a big Bubba Watson cut and duffed it into the creek. TGC is so realistic it even duplicates my breakdowns with great accuracy. My last round IRL had a similar hole where I was trying to do a big cut. It went 30 yards straight into the water much to the delight of my buddies. They were laughing so hard that it was disruptive to the people putting on the previous green. TGC duplicated everything but the laughter.

Mine said that you use Alt-F9 and Alt-F10. Doesn't TGC just use F9 and F10? Do we definitely need to remap? Do you just leave ShadowPlay on all the time or do you specifically turn it on when you think you might want to record something? I guess leaving it on all the time would make sense that way if I get a hole in one I can just use the save last 5 minutes feature.

I haven't played with it too much. For the YouTube video, I just left it on. It split it up into 2 separate videos. You have to remap. I remapped to F2 and F3. I think that you have to have it open and minimized for it to work... not sure. I am going to have it running in the background and use the save the last 5 minute feature.....just in case. It seems to work really well with no noticeable hit on performance. You can also use the Save replay feature within TGC as well. I just noticed that ShadowPlay has a FPS counter.... bonus.

I tried using ShadowPlay. I think it causes my computer to crash in the middle of the round. Both times I was using it (actually recording my gameplay) my computer crashed during the round and restarted. I don't 100% know it was from ShadowPlay but my computer hasn't crashed during any other round I've played so it is highly likely it was from ShadowPlay. I didn't time how long I had been playing but I'd guess my round was somewhere between 15-30 minutes in.

One thing that I might try. I have my main OS and Apps on my C drive which is a 128gb SSD. I had ShadowPlay save to my second internal hard drive which is a 2TB HDD. I wonder if that is causing the crash. I'm not sure how many GB a full 18 holes will take up but I might try and see how that works. I think I have between 25-35 GB free on my C drive.

@keither maybe you can help me, i have Geforce Experience, i put all the settings right i think and it does show the fps in the right top corner. I selected the status too but all i see in the game is the fps. The status doesn't show and it does not record. When i went to the "which games are supported " site it doesn't show the golf club.

I am quite sure that you have to have it open and minimized. remap you commands as well. Alt F12 is used by the golf club. There is a little symbol in the bottom right when it is ready to record. I have 2.7.4.10. Upper right hand corner...... Make sure that shadowplay is turned on. Supported games means, it will scan your computer and let you know which games are optimized for your video card..... or which games have optimized drivers for them.

OK. I did remap the controls and my problem is that I never get the ready signal. Shadowplay is on and running in the back. I do get the fps counter but no the ready symbol. I tried with and without the little video screen as well but it doesn't show either. Only the fps counter, nothing else. The weird thing is, I watched a youtube video about setting it up and in the video it hat the option of screen capturing in the settings where you turn on and setup the fps, ready symbol and video screen positions. I don't have that option on mine. When I first installed I had 2.7.4.10 as well, didn't work. Then it called for a update which I did. Do you have the screen capturing button ?

The ready symbol shows up after you click on one of the 4 corners of status indicator. See pics. Check your video library. Shadowplay will create a folder called The Golf Club and put the videos there.

I will try again when I get home, thanks. But see on the pic to the right, underneath the screen logo you have the screen capture box, I don't have that for whatever reason. The rest of the settings are the same then yours.

Turning the fps counter on and off alt+F12 works fine too in the game, weird. I hope it has nothing to do with my 980m but the status shows shadowplay ready !

I think if your notebook has graphics switching, you will have to disable it. That's the only reason that I can think of.
