I'm about ready to switch over my graphics card and I want to run a comparison on my current card vs the new card using Fraps. Does anyone have a suggestion on one of the more demanding courses to test this out on?

Well, i switched from a GTX 770 to a GTX 1070. When using crooked tree on the 770 fraps were consistently in the 30's, on the 1070, it rarely dropped to low 50's, most of the time it stayed at 60.
Other settings were as follows, object detail 2, H2O quality 1, Tree detail 200, tree distance 494.
I will now change to settings that others have recommended and see what i get.
Will fraps only show up to 60? Is 60 the max? -
No, Fraps will go up to whatever. If your fps is a thousand it will show it.
Those settings are very low. I guess because of your 770. I'm surprised the 1070 ever dropped below 60.
Seems you may have Vsync on. Need to turn it off if you want to do any tests otherwise you will never see above 60 (eg. even if your card could do 500 it would only go to 60).

OK thanks. I will check it this weekend and report back. Usually it just always stayed at 60, but sometimes i would see it quickly switch to a number in the 50's and then go right back to 60.
In regards to settings, i have no idea why they were there, i could have been messing around with them when i first got tgc. i will try to find the recommended settings that have recently been posted and switch it to that. I wanted to see the difference between the two so i didn't change any settings when i switched cards.Comment

Well, I couldn't wait. So with the following setup and back on Crooked stick, Fraps were consistently over 100 with lowest being in the 90's. I played a bit on another course and fraps were over 200. Sometimes when things were going from one screen to another it would go over 1k.

Do you still have water quality set to 1? It should be at 2 (on any card that can handle it which yours can). The water will look much better and darker. It will affect the fps noticeably.Comment

Tested my 970 so you'll have something to compare to when you rerun.
Crooked stick. Above settings with water on 2. Resolution 1920x1080p
This course is quite demanding. The frame rate varied quite a bit depending on hole so a little hard to characterize but here goes:
First four holes. Ignoring sky shots. Frame rate varied from about 45 to 90. 50% were above 60 typically running 60-80. 90% were above mid 50s. Slowest seemed to be 45 or so.
Sitting on the tee on #4 was a steady 61 and from tee to green ranged from 60-80. For interest sake turning water quality down to 1 while on the tee and the 61 jumped to 69.Comment

Hole #2 tee seems the worst at 44-45fps. And for anyone curious what overclocking can do this raises to 50-51 fps when overclocked.Comment

Here are my settings
1920 x1080 with quality HIGH
Vsync, Depth of Field, AA all off
Object Detail 4
Tree Count 2000
Tree Distance 254
Water Quality 2
On crooked tree hole 2 on the tee it's sitting at 71. Tee shot stayed in upper 60's for most part, in fairway it's sitting at 70, hitting into green it went into upper 70's and on green it's at 72. Putting it was at 76.
I went to hole 3 on teebox and it's sitting at 80, hole 4 was sitting at 85.
I have no idea if it's makes a difference or not, but all these numbers were taken while google chrome was running as well.
I'm assuming that these are all stock numbers since i don't know how to do overclocking. I didn't change anything, just installed card, downloaded latest drivers and connected the displays.
I have a I5-3570K @3.40ghz. I don't know if this is overclocked or not or even how to do it or how I can tell.Comment

Those numbers are great and a big step up over the 970.
There is no way you are overclocked if you don't know how.
It would be interesting to see 1060 results if anyone has one and would care to duplicate the test.
