The power supply is overkill you can save money there with no impact but otherwise looks good.

PG uses the cpu more than tgc. 2.7ghz i5 works fine but if you are ultra fussy some user courses benefit from higher clock speeds at times as they are not always as well optimized. Luckily PG doesn't glitch as much as TGC so it runs smoother at lower frame rates.

TGC uses the graphics card more than PG. The 3gb 1060 is really a different card than the regular version. Less horsepower in addition to less memory. Plenty for PG and I expect for TGC too. I haven't seen anyone with a 3gb version actually confirm this though.

Hi mate, is the 3gb 1060 ok then or should i be looking at something better? Is the 3GB 1060 a better card than the 4GB 970 and 4GB 980 cards?

        • #7
980 TI is a real good card as long as its the TI but that cost is comparable to a 10 series in pricing, I feel any 10 series card is a great option compared to a 970 if getting a new computer, but what I have seen on the reviews though this 3gb is only slightly better then the 970

It's just for sim play and won't be used for anything else as I have a work laptop for day to day use

          Hi everyone! New guy here.

I just ordered my ST and trying to decide on sim software. I would like to go with JNPG to save the money and go to TGC next year. I would like to just get TGC now and purchase it outright but I think wifey would make me live in the garage with the sim if I do that.
I just got a gaming laptop and now a little concerned it's not going to be powerful enough. I have looked around on here and it seems like you guys are using pretty powerful machines.

          Asus
I7 dual core 6500 U mobile processor (this is my main concern for JNPG) but it says it has 4 core processing speed.
NVIDIA 940 MX graphics card with 2 GB dedicated memory
          12 GB RAM
          2TB hard drive

i was on a site that checked my computer for JNPG and it said I met the minimums but wanted to check with you guys to see what you thought.
Man I wish they had trials for these games!
Honestly seems a little crazy they don't.

          i appreciate the help everyone!

That laptop will have a terrible time with TGC. It is not powerful enough for TGC. You need to take it back if you still can. Also stay away from whatever the minimum specs are.... nobody is happy with minimum specs. Go for recommended specs and above. You don't want your sim to look like minecraft. Save money and go with a desktop..... then tell your wife how much you saved.

i7 quad core with boost 6700 HQ
                12RAM
GTX 970 M with 3 GB dedicated memory.

GTX 970M is a little less powerful than a GTX960...... do you really need a laptop? For the price of a gaming laptop, you can purchase a regular laptop and a gaming PC. If you have to have a laptop, try to finding one with a 10 series card in there. The mobile versions of the 10 series cards have pretty much the same performance as their desktop counterparts. The 9 series......not so much. Can the 970m run TGC.... yes but you will have to lower the settings a bit.
